Hi.

does anyone know, if you go for a blood test and there’s something wrong, do they call quickly? If it were something simple like anaemia, would they call at some point over the few days after it?

thanks, just unsure the process

My experience, for blood tests ordered by the GP, is that if it’s something like anaemia, the surgery will text me the day they’ve looked at the results and ask me to make an appointment. If it’s all clear, I don't hear from them at all.

Same here in Wales my folic acid came back low got a text to tell me there was a prescription waiting in the pharmacy and to arrange another blood test in three months

I check mine on the nhs app. They are usually on there within 48hrs. If the surgery want to see/talk to me about them they send a text, again usually within 48hrs.

When DH's bloods came back with lots of red flags he heard that day despite being told the results would take around 10 days.

Give it a few days and call if you don't hear. Ime a gp will review the results and only request you make an appointment if needs be. A receptionist can check the results are back and any instruction but not give you details over the phone,
