Dieting question

Hi, I’m new to dieting so I’m finding my feet with it all. I usually eat a supper before bed - usually around 400 calories or so, just the way my work pattern is I’m always hungry round about then so I usually eat the supper, walk my dog for 40 minutes or so then go to bed. I’m still in calorie deficit overall even with this, but the fact I’m eating very close to going to bed- does that ruin the point of the diet and mean I won’t lose weight? Or is it ok because I’m still in a calorie deficit overall for the entire day even with the supper? Does the time of day matter so much? I’ve heard it’s bad for dieting to eat just before bed but with work etc it’s difficult for me not to.

tia. Just finding my feet with it all x

If you are in a deficit I wouldn't worry. See where you are in 4-6 weeks and if it isn't working readjust. General calorie deficit always works for me. And if it's your body shape you're concerned with then do some strength training and not just cardio.

There was a research study where a guy ate 1800 calories of nothing but Twinkies, Doritos, Oreos and sugary cereal every day for three months. He lost two stone, thus proving it’s total calories that count. Timing and type of food is irrelevant.
