Food shopping vs plans

Just a short one. I was meant to see my friend this evening for dinner and drinks at mine. I messaged her to ask what time she would be round and the reply was that she was now going food shopping after work instead so would be too late to come round.
AIBU to think that this is a really poor excuse for a last minute cancellation of plans.
YABU: it's a perfectly valid reason to cancel last minute. Clearly your dreadful company
Or
YANBU: This is an insane reason to not see your mate last minute

She could at least have lied. YANBU but I'm on the app so can't vote

I think you need to find a new mate!
How rude of her.

Unreasonablefoodshopper · 17/08/2023 19:46

Honestly I'm absolutely flummoxed. This is a plan made about 3 weeks ago as our husbands are going out tonight and thought we would have a girly night in. But now the food shop beckons and I have been sidelined with a fridge full of prosecco!

This is really rude. Had you bought food too? I wouldn't be messaging her again. Wait and see if she messages and apologises.

Agii · 17/08/2023 21:31

That's extremely rude. Just say that you think it's very disrespectful of her to do so. You have put in your effort to organise the dinner. And ignore the messages after.
I have stopped talking to such people over the years, if they have no valid excuse, they aren't worth your time.

Don't live with my OH, but he will prioritise doing his weekly shop over everything and anything - UNLESS he has already made plans.

She was really rude. If it happens again I'd fire her off.
