Retrieving old messages

Dedodedo · 17/08/2023 12:45

Hi sorry to put this here but I need some help if anyone knows a way to retrieve messages, I need the messages from last year to prove some abuse/coercive control/manipulation for coyrt, these are all on a old phone from last year, this phone was smashed, I brought a new (second hand) iPhone and put my sim into it but messages were gone etc, this was about 6 months ago, is there anyway I can get the text messages from anywhere, I'm not very technical, could I request from ee or anything like that, I think they must of been saved to the phone rather than the sim but the old phone doesn't turn on, any ideas, thanks

I think try to speak to MN head office they will have it on their systems

Try and get the old phone fixed. It seems to be a hardware issue. Probably with the motherboard.

These repairs are very expensive (but possible) and will be in the £100s

There are companies that specialise in fixing broken iPhone motherboards.

I think @Dedodedo is asking how to retrieve old text messages from a broken phone @scrabbledabbl. Not her posting history on mumsnet.

I’m not sure if this is possible but I would start by asking customer support for both the mobile network you were on at the time and the manufacturer of the phone and take it from there. Good luck

Confused why people are saying MN head office? Isn’t the OP talking about text messages on a mobile phone?

scrabbledabbl · 17/08/2023 12:53

Oh my bad sorry I don't know why I interpreted that has old Mumsnet messages! Probably because I haven't slept for 13 months lol yes I would contact the provider personally

Dbank · 17/08/2023 12:58

OP please clarify what type of messages are you trying to recover.

E.G. iMessage, Text Message, What'sAp, Mumsnet forum etc?

Did you have an apple account on your old IPhone? If you did, and the phone auto backed itself up, you might be able to log into the iCloud and retrieve the messages. Apple customer care might be able to help 😊

There are still companies that repair the internal circuitry of these phones. I would be very very expensive though

Sorry I can't help you with a Oppo phone.
