It's fine for a casual type wedding but I wouldn't wear to a formal one

Curseofthenation · 15/08/2023 17:40

It wouldn't have fitted in at my wedding, which wasn't super formal but a typical English wedding in a countryside manor house type deal. It depends on the venue. I wouldn't have been bothered if a guest wore that much white but I wouldn't wear it, I play it safe with weddings though.

Feelingss · 15/08/2023 17:41

It's not a church wedding if that helps, summer barn type vibes!

OP posts:
NoChanceYouMetalBastard · 15/08/2023 17:42

It's nice, I wouldn't hesitate to wear it. Also can't see how it is too short.

Summerrainagain1 · 15/08/2023 17:43

Ohhhhhhhhh · 15/08/2023 17:32

I always think best to err on the side of caution and not wear white. Maybe the bride won't care but maybe she will so why risk it? There are millions of other dresses to chose from

This really. Many wouldn't be offended, some would be. Why risk it when you can buy any other dress.

I also think it's a bit casual for a wedding.

FilthyforFirth · 15/08/2023 17:46

Bit too casual

10HailMarys · 15/08/2023 17:46

It’s absolutely fine! Lovely for a summer wedding.

(But as this is Mumsnet lots of people will doubtless tell you it’s too short or too white or too casual and that anything other than a calf-length Kate Middleton coat dress with a matching fascinator, shoes and bag in a jewel tone would be inappropriate, because Mumsnet weddings apparently all take place in 1982.)

I was thinking exactly this! I'm assuming OP is attending a regular summer wedding, not a royal one...bizarre!

Hufflepods · 15/08/2023 17:48

How hard is it for so many people to just not wear white though?

Tinktravels · 15/08/2023 17:49

It would be a no from me, too white and too informal.

Tinktravels · 15/08/2023 17:52

For the people that always say ' it looks nothing like a wedding dress', a lot of brides also like to be the only one in white in the photos to really stand out.
It's not that hard to wear another colour

Fairyliz · 15/08/2023 17:53

It looks like a wedding dress from the swinging sixties.
There are hundreds of coloured dresses around why risk causing offence. Would you go to a funeral in a hot pink dress?

momager1 · 15/08/2023 17:54

I love the dress but nearly shit myself when I saw the price $4,100.00 and then.. the penny dropped and the site had sussed out my location so priced it in Dominican Peso's .. LMFAO

Whichwhatnow · 15/08/2023 17:57

Feelingss · 15/08/2023 17:11

For reference, I'm 7 inches shorter than the model so it's just above my knees! Very mixed responses here...

I think because it is so mixed I would err on the side of caution and go for something less white. Personally I see no issue with it (and wouldn't even register it as the bride) but you don't want to run the risk of pissing off the bride if she's one of those that would be bothered! There are plenty of other options around to pick from.

This

There is also a danger this outfit might outshine the bride’s own dress - a wedding in a barn could have a ‘folksy’ feel … bride may even be in a white cotton dress herself.

I wouldn’t

It’s surprisingly hard if you are aiming for a non traditional dress for a wedding. Took me 2 years to find one for a beach wedding in Hawaii If I found a style that worked it was either in white or cream… If I found a good color then the fabric or style was not right for a beach wedding.

(the wedding was postponed a few times for Covid- I don’t typically spend years searching for a dress 🙂)

Burnamer · 15/08/2023 18:21

If you have to ask…..

Persiana · 15/08/2023 18:23

In my.opinion, it's too white and too short. It's a day time lunch summer dress to me

saltinesandcoffeecups · 15/08/2023 18:24

@Feelingss If you have your heart set on this dress. I would suggest a simple cotton wrap in one of the colors from the flowers. Toss it on for the pictures and ceremony and don’t worry about it for the dancing bits.

Wraps are totally underrated for accessorizing.

SleepingStandingUp · 15/08/2023 18:32

Conqueeftador · 15/08/2023 17:16

Too white, too short.

How is just above the knee too short?

paddleboarder12 · 15/08/2023 18:35

I think it could work with some colourful non white accessories, it looks nothing like a bride’s or bridesmaids dress.

SuperiorM · 15/08/2023 18:35

Dress it up a bit, you might need a hat, scarf/wrap, fancy handbag to make it work

JamieFrasersfurrysporran · 15/08/2023 18:37

Too white for a wedding

lovemelongtime · 15/08/2023 18:38

Not worried about the colour but it's not a dress for wedding

Summerisnearlyhere1 · 15/08/2023 18:39

It looks fine to me, I like it and would wear it. I wouldn't think anything of a guest who wore it, even when I was a bride.

Also, I've never in real life heard anything commenting about a guest wedding a white floral dress to a wedding. The only comments I've heard are those who wear a plain black dress, not s flowery black dress.

Wear it op! I would
