to sweat when I'm cold?

I am currently working from a client's office where the air con is quite cold. I have been wearing sleeveless dresses with either a jacket or a cardigan on top. No tights as they are not mandatory. When I'm outside I'm comfortable - when I'm inside I get cold after a little while. And yet I sweat when I'm inside. It ends up being the smelly type of sweat for some reason. I don't usually smell with fresh sweat.

What is going on? I know it's not something I can control so I'm not really being unreasonable but am I being weird? A friend of mine said it happens to her too. But I haven't really asked many people. How can I sweat when I'm cold? And why does that type of sweat smell?

I get this too!!

peanutbutter00 · 15/08/2023 15:13

It could be hyperhidrosis?

NillyNoMates · 15/08/2023 15:17

Are you perimenopausal?

RememberWhy · 15/08/2023 15:39

@peanutbutter00 I don't think so because it only happens when I'm cold (and wearing summer clothes - it doesn't happen in winter when I'm dressed up warm)

@NillyNoMates Yes but I've been like this most of my life.

I find stress sweat is more smelly, but happens when I'm hot or cold

fuchiaknickers · 15/08/2023 16:04

Yes, are you stressed?
Is the cold stressing you?
Emotional / stressed / anxious sweat is the worst.

44PumpLane · 15/08/2023 16:18

Yes, I get this too.

Lavenderosemary · 15/08/2023 21:11

And me! Being a bit chilly is the worst.

mynameiscalypso · 15/08/2023 21:13

While my face tends to get sweaty when I'm hot, my underarms seem to have a live of their own. They will sweat when it's cold and be dry as a bone when it's hot.

Myfavouritepenguin · 15/08/2023 21:16

I have this. The heat doesn’t seem to have anything to do with my sweating; I sweat when I’m stressed, particularly when it’s cold I’d say.

RememberWhy · 16/08/2023 10:39

I don't think it's anything to do with stress - unless discomfort because I'm cold classifies as stress. But maybe I do 'tense' up because I'm cold and that makes me sweat. But then I don't get why it's so smelly compared to 'regular' sweat.
