To think this is a bit crap

Dp has 2dc 14 and 16, has them 2 days/nights each week. Their mum goes off on holiday and between dp and her parents they sort the dc.
If dp wants to go on holiday it has to be for the days between contact. Last year he gave their mum 2 months notice and she just said sorry cant help, those days are your responsibility. He has no parents or family of his own.

Dp is a great dad. Generous kind and loving. He has the dc on other days if needed when their mum needs.

Aibu to think that its a bit crap to have no flexibility on this.
If he arranged a 'babysitter' from an agency or such like the dc wouldnt want that and i think their mum would go ballistic. It just feels all to suit her. Yet the rules are so flexible for her. Kids allowed overnight on theor own if shes away yet if dp did that she'd without doubt call social services

If she wont keep them on his days then he shouldn't do it anymore either, works both ways. But also there old enough not to need a babysitter, surely a friend could just sleep over for the 2 nights?

He wont say no to having the dc extra days because they are his kids and he wants to see them as much as he can.

He doesnt have a friend that could sleep over and if he did the mum wouldnt be ok with that.
