To ask about carpeting?

I feel very stupid but I don’t know how carpeting works.

I need to carpet 3 bedrooms and my stairs and landing.

I have a sample person coming in next week so I can choose but it’s the practical side I need help understanding.

I assume the rooms need to be empty. All the rooms are upstairs so I can’t get them all empty at the same time.

Do the fitters move every back and forth? Or do they fit one room? We love it all and then they do the next room?

I feel very stupid asking this.

A lot of carpet shops do not employ the fitter and either subcontract or recommend local fitters. What the fitters will/won't do is up to them. Some will move furniture, some won't. It's perfectly ok to phone around some fitters and ask what they can do / recommend best approach to complete the job. Facebook local groups is often a good place to get recommendations.

We've recently had our entire upstairs re carpeted. The fitters worked around/under the furniture, although we moved what we could into the rooms without carpet. Beds were left.
