Sorry, posting for traffic as I really need to know if anyone has been through similar. Also NC for this.

warning for TMI 💩

Since around last summer I have passed blood after BMs. Sometimes thick like period blood, other times fresh red blood. It was intermittent and I usually clocked jt around my period so thought it might be endo.

had bloods, calprotectin, colonoscopy and colposcopy - absolutely nothing showed up, completely clear.

fast forward 3 months after all tests and the bleeding is now every day, usually once per day when I go to the loo. It is often thick and dark red (like period blood) and muscousy. Sorry 🙈 I went to the doctor last week who basically said if it’s reassurance you want I’m telling you if nothing showed in all of these exams then there’s nothing sinister going on and it’s probably just piles. I can’t feel piles, don’t have that sort of pain and can’t believe that amount of blood and the consistency would be caused by piles.

has ANYONE been through similar?! Am I meant to just ignore it? Help!

to add, 3 years ago I had a very traumatic birth. Failed forceps, failed ventouse and eventual emergency section. Not sure if they’ve just messed up my innards as my periods only returned last summer shortly before symptoms arose

Yes. I had the same.
So much blood the water was completely red and not possible to see the bottom of the toilet.
I was referred for a colonoscopy but it was classed as non urgent as stool samples were normal. It was a worrying 14 month wait for a colonoscopy when I was bleeding after every BM!
Colorectal surgeon declared everything normal and said it was due to constipation and hard stools (scratching their way down) and prescribed Resolor.
I was furious and felt really dismissed as I wasn’t constipated and I was convinced something serious was wrong.

You know what? He was right. I haven’t bled after a BM since taking Resolor every evening. If you’ve had all the tests and examinations and there wasn’t anything there for them to find maybe it’s that for you?
