Been told to send an invoice for a service provided. Have been informed it will be a 6 week wait for payment.

Aibu to think it's a long time?

Do you have a contract? If not what was discussed beforehand?

Caprisunny · 12/08/2023 20:44

Depends. In my industry it’s not unusual to wait longer. We have different terms with different contracts, contractors, clients etc.

buzzlightyearsgloves · 12/08/2023 20:47

Completely depends. We have 3 month payment terms. What was in the contract/agreed?

TeaKitten · 12/08/2023 20:47

Depends on the circumstances and contract.

girlfriend44 · 12/08/2023 21:00

No contract. Providing a service for the first time.

Surely depends on the contract. Where I used to work it was 30 days but one client specifically negotiated 60 days.

Then I think yabu. 6 weeks to pay an invoice isn’t unusual at all.

Raindancer101 · 12/08/2023 21:47

If its a business paying you then I don't think it's unusual.

Where I work we do one supplier payment run a month, at the end of each month. Before an invoice gets to be paid, it has to go through the internal approval process, so an invoice received now, would be paid on our September payment run, in about 6 weeks.

Why didn't you agree terms before?
