to think that sometimes really nice people are just married to knobheads?

That about sums it up really. What do you do when you have a really nice friend but think their DH is a knob? I try to be friendly but he is just not worth the effort. But she is, and then I feel guilty.

meet her on her own?

cremolafoam · 28/02/2008 10:25

love is a funny thing

RedJools · 28/02/2008 10:26

Just be thankful he's married to her and not you!!

GooseyLoosey · 28/02/2008 10:27

I have loads of friends who fall into this category. TBH, I find that after a few years, the friendship tends to fall away as I suspect the dhs probably feel the same way about me. Has to be a pretty good friend to overcome this.

Think it happens a lot. There's some kind of magnetic pull between nice people and knobheads.

Worryingly I think my DP is a nice person which must make me...

Rachmumoftwo · 28/02/2008 10:37

Oh he hates me- he is quite uptight and up his own arse, while I'm a bit of a hippy. He is small minded and bigotted too, and I have trouble biting my tongue. We are all going to a party on Saturday and while I'm looking forward to the party, cannot be bothered to make small talk- I will be subtle and avoid him.

Oh I'm a nice person and I'm married to a dickhead (albeit a very very nice one). This is according to all DH's mates

BibiThree · 28/02/2008 10:43

Rach, you could be describing my best friend's husband right there in your last post. Can't stand the man and the only person I know who can is my friend.

sparkybabe · 28/02/2008 10:47

i've got one like that - she is lovely, hard-working, diligent, punctual, friendly.

Her dh, on the other hand, is a bone-idle lazy, dirty, inconsiderate git who (luckily) prefers to sit at home on his own.

I'm a really nice person married to a knobhead. None of my friends like him so now I just go out with my friends, not in couples.

It hurt initially but now I just don't care. Lots of people don't go out as couples anyway because of divorce etc, etc, so it's not the end of the world.

DualCycloneCod · 28/02/2008 10:56

yes we were talkign abotu htis recently
and i haev a mte marreid to a nob who KNOWS he is a nob and awlasy jhas to apoligise for him

RosaIsRed · 28/02/2008 12:08

I was talking about this to a friend recently. We were trying to work out why we knew quite a few lovely women married to knobs but no lovely men married to the female equivalent.
(
Disclaimer: while also knowing many couples where both partners are lovely, of course.)
