Kids dancing on neighbour's roof

So today a girl and a boy climbed out of a velux window and climbed across the roof slates to my neighbour opposite's flat roof. They were up there for about 15 minutes dancing and smoking and drinking. It's three stories high and overlooks my yard and living room.

I filmed them and told my next door neighbour. She said it was the 15 year old daughter and 18 year old boyfriend.

Do I do anything? Should I tell the opposite neighbour that they danced on his roof? Should I tell the parents of the kids who were dancing? Or should I just mind my own business (even though I didn't like them up there above my living room).

I'd tell the kids' parents, it is dangerous.

MaMaMeeAah · 07/08/2023 19:42

Tell them both ! Why wouldn't you ?

Tell them both.

Anothernamethesamegame · 07/08/2023 19:43

I’d tell the person whose roof it is and the parents. Also I’d have called the police if I felt they were unsafe (not sure if it was unsafe from your description).

Agreed.

Okay so I'm scared that those kids will come to 'get me back' if I say anything. According to my neighbour, they do drugs and have been excluded from school a number of times so I don't feel safe with them knowing it was me.

Then let the Police Community Service Officer know, so they have it "on record".

Then if one of the little darlings gets high and falls off the roof thy will know about previous incidents of risky behaviour.

determinedtomakethiswork · 07/08/2023 20:04

I would've called the police actually. Such idiotic behaviour.

Treesandrivers · 07/08/2023 20:07

I’m confused.

Are they trespassing or on their own roof?

If trespassing, you could inform the householder if you think damage is likely. Otherwise, he will say something if he gets annoyed.

WTF!

Mumsnet is full of citizens who want to punish normal behaviour. Do you really want to live in a society where everyone reports on everyone else for everything? Appalling.

JMSA · 07/08/2023 20:13

I'd tell the neighbours whose roof they were on. They can then tell the parents if they want.
My first concern would be the damage to the roof Grin
I'm curious though, wouldn't they hear the teenagers on their roof?

You are dangerous.

Glad my kids are adult.

LakeTiticaca · 07/08/2023 20:25

Ring the police. Also let the neighbour whose roof it is know. If they fall off, one their own head be it........literally 😉

Climbing on someone else's property is not normal or acceptable especially if they have had drugs
Christ, I despair sometimes

It's terraced houses, they climbed out of their velux and moved from their sloped roof onto his flat roof (he has a dormer).

Good idea, I'll do that at the very least. I just don't want any fallback on me! I live alone and my yard is easy to get into with tons of plants I love....

In what world can it possibly be ok to report people to the police for trespassing on someone else’s property where no damage has been done.

Particularly children who could lose everything they have as a result.

Orwellian.

trebarwith1 · 07/08/2023 20:43

Leave it. It's not your business.

They were having fun, no-one got hurt and nothing got damaged.

Hivaluegirl · 07/08/2023 22:02

Dangerous as f. Tell the parents
