To think that refillable solid deodorants are a brilliant idea?

You get the case, refill it when needed, refill packaging is totally compostable so no plastic going to landfill. What’s not to like?

The cost (I will buy when I have more money)

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 06/08/2023 14:36

Well it depends entirely on if the deodorant works.

dementedpixie · 06/08/2023 14:37

I dont like the fact they are deodorants and not antiperspirants so don't stop you sweating

IHopeYouStepOnALegPiece · 06/08/2023 14:38

The cost. The main brands smell like shitbor a fucking fruit salad and they’re not anti perspirant

Mine does work and smells nice. As for it only being a deodorant - I’ve always used antiperspirants in the past but this one does a fair job of keeping me dry too. I’m not a very sweaty person though.

Mitchum roll on takes aaaages to dry. I won't rebuy.

HewasH20 · 06/08/2023 14:57

The refills are overpriced at over £6 unless you buy direct. The Wild case is abysmal quality. It took over 80 turns to get the side clips to go in to be able to pull the base off & the metal casing fell away from the plastic case. Their customer service is very "Hey Guys, our product can't possibly be crap as all these gorgeous people have been sucked in. Are you sure you're not just old and don't know how it works?"

TheGoodEnoughWife · 06/08/2023 14:59

They don't work that well and they are quite soft so you end up with 'gunk' around the case. Gross.

hadhimoverabarrel · 06/08/2023 15:01

I can't stand anything other than a spray deodorant - I have sensory issues, so it isn't for me.

modgepodge · 06/08/2023 15:01

I have been pleasantly surprised by mine OP, and am adjusting to the fact it’s deodorant not antiperspirant. I haven’t had an issue with the case breaking or the deodorant getting messy. However, as above it does work out very expensive. Think I paid £12 for the case and one refill, now refills have to be bought in 3s at a cost of £17. I can afford this and suck it up as I like the product and to think I’m helping the environment, but I can see plenty of people can’t afford to spend over £5 on each deodorant when you can pick them up for a quid or two at Asda.

PuppyMonkey · 06/08/2023 15:03

I’m allergic to loads of things so Sod’s Law would dictate this would be one of them.

Ghostgirl77 · 06/08/2023 15:03

I’ve tried Wild but didn’t like the lack of antiperspirant and also found it tended to get on my clothes.

HoboSexualOnslow · 06/08/2023 15:07

I personally found Wild to be quite wasteful as there was left over product that i couldn't get put of the case. I also found it brought me out in welts and didn't work.

They tell you how to deal with this on their website. You take the bit you can't use and put it on top of the next one which conveniently is not filled to the top by the right amount. Works best if you use the same scent each time.

I think the biggest issue for most people is that they are deodorants not antiperspirant.

ChristmasKraken · 06/08/2023 15:21

I tried Wild and found it totally ineffective as a deodorant... I became so self conscious of how I smelled that I had to stop using it. So pretty wasteful really...

Thesearmsofmine · 06/08/2023 15:23

If Mitchum did them(in stick form not roll on) then I would happily buy.

CocoPlum · 06/08/2023 15:24

I found the Wild orange scent didn't make me sweat much at all. Unfortunately it was because of the bicarb which brought my armpits out in painful red welts.

babbscrabbs · 06/08/2023 15:24

I have the Fussy one. The grapefruit fragrance is nice, but not hugely effective.

MadisonAvenue · 06/08/2023 15:31

I tried Wild and didn’t like it, it was too messy and I found that it didn’t work very well for me. I know they advise that you should allow your body to adjust to the product over a couple of weeks but I gave it a month.

I’m now using Fussy and love it. The scent lasts all day but isn’t overpowering and although a dry texture it applies well. I’ve been using it for three months now and can’t see me changing back.

WoolyMammoth55 · 06/08/2023 15:35

I got a Fussy just this week, citrus scent - it's a nice smell and it stopped my pits getting stinky, but it burned like hell from the second application onwards.

I might try seeing if they will send me an unscented refill in case I can get on better with that one.

But at the moment I have an eco-friendly product that I can't use because it hurts too much - that's pretty wasteful... :(

Survey99 · 06/08/2023 15:39

Refillable anything that has a smaller carbon foot print and no waste is obviously a positive.

But unless the products themselves are any good and in the same price range (should actually be cheaper if they are not replacing packaging) and easily accessible (in the supermarket) then they are usually just gimmicky products, someone trying to make a quick buck, wont encourage mass uptake and not really going to make even the tiniest dent in global issues.

And I can't stand a spray deodorant. I feel I can't breathe if it's sprayed. I have sinus issues and was told years ago to use as few sprays ( anything ) as possible.

What's the relevance of that to being sustainable and not using refillable deodorants?

If you can use them that's great obviously :)

ThePoshUns · 06/08/2023 15:53

Life Supplies refillable anti perspirant is much better.

I am a sweaty person (especially since having DS - I'm hoping it's hormonal & with reduce when I stop breastfeeding!) so I've had to shelve the Wild one I had in favour of Mitchum roll-on.
I'd love to find an effective refill antiperspirant!
