To think that refillable solid deodorants are a brilliant idea?

You get the case, refill it when needed, refill packaging is totally compostable so no plastic going to landfill. What’s not to like?

I tried Wild and found it totally ineffective as a deodorant... I became so self conscious of how I smelled that I had to stop using it. So pretty wasteful really...

Yes me too. I hardly ever smell, but with wild after a few hours I was ponging!!!
My daughter uses it and it stains her school shirts terribly.

themosttiptoptopcat · 06/08/2023 16:05

I’m all for making sustainable lifestyle changes but unfortunately Wild deodorant gave me terrible eczema. ☹️

Tygertiger · 06/08/2023 16:07

I’ve tried both brands (Wild and Fussy). Gave each a month. I stank and there were stains all over my clothes. So for me, total ineffectiveness of product is what’s not to like.

Wishiwasatailor · 06/08/2023 16:08

Anyone tried life supplies refillable antiperspirant? Is it any good?

gogomoto · 06/08/2023 16:09

I prefer roll on, the refillable ones as with every "green " product are very expensive.

gogomoto · 06/08/2023 16:12

And just looking at life supplies £11.99 ! I'll stick to lidl. 79p

StripyHorse · 06/08/2023 16:15

I was previously using Bionsen stick which is also deodorant so it wasn't much of an adjustment to change. I had 2 free samples of Wild to try 1st before I bought some. I was finding Bionsen had started snapping (sometimes had snapped before I even used it).

I do like the Wild refills but it is a pricey way of buying deodorant. I can afford it at the moment but I will switch to regular deodorant if that becomes an issue.

KimberleyClark · 06/08/2023 16:20

I have a Fussy. I agree they are expensive with the case - which seems good quality - being £12. Tesco sells both Fussy and Wild lrefills for £5 each. I use the Night Tales fragrance.

I use Wild, and it works well for me as both a deodorant and protection against damp pits (apart from one scent that made me smell like cat pee).

But my first case wasn't great and the customer service was pretty accurately captured above, it is very expensive and the block doesn't last anywhere near as long as claimed, in winter it's hard to use as my house is apparently too cold so it's hard to get it to melt (I now keep it in the bed overnight!), and I don't understand why a brand that supposedly aims at reducing consumption keeps advertising new limited edition cases all the time... 🤔

We've bought a different case for each nember of the family so all the different colours have been useful for us, it's one of the things that annoys me about bamboo toothbrushes is that they don't come in enough colours for a family of 5.

Hmmph · 06/08/2023 16:29

I tried and liked Wild, but the refills don't last very long and are SO expensive so I have given up.

I don't quite understand why they are so expensive and small compared to disposables.

Whattheactualwhatnow · 06/08/2023 16:29

Expensive, and because it’s not antiperspirant the sweat brings me out in a rash. Also same issues as PP with waste and difficulty when it comes to replacing. I’ll persevere but really I’d rather go back to spray.

Marblessolveeverything · 06/08/2023 16:32

Yep our workplace went through a phase of these recently - they don't work for a lot of women. It wasn't pleasant!

The quality needs to improve, texture, drying time and the price point needs to be similar to spray alternatives.

WestwardHo1 · 06/08/2023 16:33

If you're buying that stuff i.e accepting the fact that it's a deodorant rather than an anti perspirant, you may as well make your own.

Coconut oil, arrowroot powder, bicarb, some essential oil.

Wild made me smell so bad I had to go home mid shift, shower, and totally change clothes.

I'll stick to my Sure I think.

SharonEllis · 06/08/2023 16:40

Its appalling to think how much plastic is going landfill with deodorants & most smell awful. I've been experimenting for years - my daughter has Wild & likes it though I've not tried it. But for me the very best is this. I am pretty sweaty & smelly but this is amazing. It really does neutralise the smell. In a glass pot & lasts for ages. I think I buy twice a year, tops. www.thegreenwoman.co.uk/fit-pit-woman

The refills are overpriced at over £6 unless you buy direct. The Wild case is abysmal quality. It took over 80 turns to get the side clips to go in to be able to pull the base off & the metal casing fell away from the plastic case. Their customer service is very "Hey Guys, our product can't possibly be crap as all these gorgeous people have been sucked in. Are you sure you're not just old and don't know how it works?"

I also hated Wild for this reason.

It also left terrible white marks on clothes and their customer service just told me I must be putting too much on!

Namddf · 06/08/2023 16:44

I don't understand why a brand that supposedly aims at reducing consumption keeps advertising new limited edition cases all the time... 🤔

Exactly. And (as I pointed out to them), the fact that the product is crap means that most people end up throwing the metal case away…

ThomasHardyPerennial · 06/08/2023 16:56

A lot of packaging that claims to be compostable, is actually only compostable under certain conditions. Yet another lie about products claiming to be eco friendly.

I use it and yes it's good. As good as Mitchum which I previously used.

BunchofStars · 06/08/2023 16:58

Deodorants do nothing to prevent sweating. No point to them really.

mrstea301 · 06/08/2023 17:02

I totally support the idea, but I've had three goes at using Wild now and feel like that's enough. It's always fine for the first couple of weeks, then gradually starts bringing me out in massive welts. At one point, my beautician said it looked like I had chemical burns in my armpits. Back to Mitchum spray, until I find another alternative.

ComeBackPeterComeBackPaul · 06/08/2023 17:02

Won’t be replacing the Wild that I bought after reading a previous thread. I don’t think it’s hugely effective and it gets very gunky. Going back to the Nuxe solid one.

The Fussy case is better quality I think.

I've tried both the main brands - one irritated my skin to the point it dried up and had bleeding sore spots and I couldn't use any deo while I waited for it to heal, the other left greasy marks in my clothes which wouldn't wash out. Wouldn't use either again!
