To think that refillable solid deodorants are a brilliant idea?

You get the case, refill it when needed, refill packaging is totally compostable so no plastic going to landfill. What’s not to like?

I'm stuck with Wild until my refills run out then I'll switch. It's pure gimmickery, especially with the consumerist limited edition cases. Such a shame as I wanted it to be a good product when I found it on the shelf above Dove, Sure etc.

On the plus side, their mini stick in a cardboard tube is good. No hidden plastic and perfect for a top up, but still twice the price of a standard travel size product.

I love the wild one.
Linen & sea salt smells awesome

Won’t be replacing the Wild that I bought after reading a previous thread. I don’t think it’s hugely effective and it gets very gunky. Going back to the Nuxe solid one.

What does the nuxe smell like?

What does the nuxe smell like?

I’m not good at describing smells but I would say it’s quite botanical, quite herby/eucalyptus-y . I think it last well too.

On a more serious note, companies providing these products are often very good at greenwashing. We all want to reduce the amount of single-use plastic we use, but often the processes used in these alternative products are just as bad for the environment and they result in just as much waste.

Ever since the concept of the ‘carbon footprint’ was created (oh, by the oil companies) we’ve been guilt-tripped on an individual basis into feeling bad about purchasing certain products and continuing with certain behaviours. The solid truth is that, while we can obsess over whether we throw away a little bit of plastic or a lot, we cannot single-handedly solve the environmental crisis we’re in.

There are books and articles that explain this better than I can, but it’s just something worth thinking about as we stress over which deodorant we should use and pay over the odds for products that are supposedly ‘green’.

@Namddf which I think sums up Wild perfectly. And we got sucked in as it genuinely smells nice.

I bought the Fussy one… I don’t find it works as well as my usual Sure stick. It’s more expensive too and doesn’t last as long.

I have an allergy to bicarb. I love the idea but my pits didn't! And any non-bicarb ones have been ineffective. Would love if the regular brands introduced refills to at least minimise plastic

ImBrian · 06/08/2023 18:37

I buy wild, it’s not cheap and if I’m not very careful it’ll leave white marks on everything but I can train/bike ride etc wearing it and I never smell.

Walruswithbraces · 06/08/2023 18:39

Because we want antiperspirant. And it's really expensive. That's what not to like.
