Income 3,500 (net)
Mortgage 1,100
CT 150
Car finance and loan repayment 300
Nursery 1,400

I am so incredibly stressed. I really don’t know whether to just give up work and rely on savings for a while (currently have 15k so won’t last long) and then take a lower paid job and have more time with dc. She’s not entitled to any free hours so that’s the cost including the tax free element. No idea what to do or what is best anymore.

Sorry misread your salary but if its under £60k after pension contributions you might get a bit of CB.

@Goneroundthetwist how on earth would a job with only evenings and weekend hours help the OP? Her biggest outgoings are all her other bills. A few hours a week isn’t going to pay her mortgage.

Her original post did not say she was a single parent and therefore getting rid of £1400 nursery costs would definitely helped.

Don't give your job up, and live on savings, that would be madness. Just dip into savings to supplement high childcare cost for a couple of years then your DC will get subsidised 30 hours, then school and then you be will be so glad you kept hold of your job.

Are you getting single adult discount on your council tax?
Does your council allow you to pay over 12 months? (You won't pay less but it spreads the payments thinner)
Are you on a water meter? If not, see if it works out cheaper.
Have you shopped around for cheaper deals on everything from house insurance to fuel?
