Teaching interview

I had an interview beginning of July for a teaching position. I haven’t heard back. Aibu to assume I wasn’t lucky? 😩

Was that for supply or a directly employed position?
Usually teaching jobs are offered on the same day as the interview. What did they say about the recruitment process?

Golfingdrw · 04/08/2023 21:11

It was maternity cover starting in September

Very unusual. As per pp, you normally hear on the day even if it's a rejection. Did you definitely leave your correct phone number?

Dixiechickonhols · 04/08/2023 21:13

I’d assume not but would contact them just to confirm they’ve been really rude and unprofessional not letting you know.

miniaturepixieonacid · 04/08/2023 21:14

I would assume they chose someone else, I'm afraid.

There are still plenty available for this Sept though. I would let this one go and apply elsewhere, you'll have no problem getting something.

We always decide on the day, unless there is some mitigating circumstance where we need to wait until the next day. Either way, we always contact candidates the same day, whether successful or not and provide feedback. I would absolutely contact them - did you definitely provide the correct email and contact numbers?

Golfingdrw · 04/08/2023 21:20

At least I think I did, I left my mobile and email so even if one of them is wrong 🤷🏻‍♂️

Rocknrollstar · 04/08/2023 21:21

We always decide on the day and let everybody know.

kayserah · 04/08/2023 21:33

It couldn’t have gone to your junk folder could it?

Emily235 · 04/08/2023 21:37

We nearly always decide on the day and then let the people know .. the only possible thing would be if you were the reserve choice and they are awaiting the paperwork of the first choice ... but even then it has been quite a while to have no communication.

Serendipitoushedgehog · 04/08/2023 21:42

I think it’s really rude they didn’t let you know.
Schools usually call the next day, or even on the day.

cdsxxa · 04/08/2023 21:43

You should have heard on the same day

Golfingdrw · 06/08/2023 20:36

Maybe I should just email the head?

OP posts:
ellesbellesxxx · 06/08/2023 20:47

You could frame it as asking for feedback? But very unusual not to have heard either way!

Golfingdrw · 06/08/2023 20:48

@ellesbellesxxx yes I was going to ask for feedback purely.

OP posts:
Russooooo · 06/08/2023 20:48

That’s really strange. You’d normally be told on the day.

Smartiepants79 · 06/08/2023 20:49

That extremely unusual.
Schools are normally very good about this kind of stuff and contact you on the day or the day they’ve interviewed everyone they’re interested in.

Golfingdrw · 06/08/2023 20:53

Ok so clearly it’s a no!

OP posts:
Russooooo · 06/08/2023 20:58

I’m sorry, but it’s definitely a ‘no’. There’s no way a school would have waited this long to confirm an appointment with the school term looming. It’s still worth contacting them ‘for feedback’ as there’s a (small) chance there’ll be another role or that they’ll keep your details on record. Sorry.

Golfingdrw · 06/08/2023 21:38

@Russooooo 😫

Agree with everyone else, - the school wouldn't be just waiting for you to reply to an offer, so it is reasonable to assume you weren't selected, but I also agree with everyone else that schools generally decide on the day and normally let all candidates know, once the person selected has accepted (so might be the next working day perhaps).
However, why are you only asking now ?
If your interview was at the beginning of July, why didn't you contact them a few days after that - when it was still term time ?
