Just that . Trying to organise a family event . Despite several requests of suitable dates , many were vague , but the most most concrete answer was from one individual was …. I’m not available for the last week of August .

OP posts:

For me, it's the one that starts with the bank holiday.

TeaKitten · 04/08/2023 18:18

I would assume the week commencing the 28th. Just ask them though.

Barrell · 04/08/2023 18:18

The last week that commences on a day in August - this year the week commencing Monday 28 August (or 27 August, if you start the week on the Sunday).

SquirrelRed · 04/08/2023 18:18

I would say the bank holiday week

PuttingDownRoots · 04/08/2023 18:19

Either the last 7 days of August, the last Monday in August onwards or the last weekend in August onwards....

saltinesandcoffeecups · 04/08/2023 18:22

Wouldn’t it be easier to ask the person who said it what they mean? Or is this a philosophical question 🙂 which I’m up for but it sounds like this is important for event scheduling.

MistyMorningMelons · 04/08/2023 18:24

Ask them to clarify...

DoesNotPlayWellWithIdiots · 04/08/2023 18:26

I'd assume the week commencing 28th but I wouldn't assume that everybody else assumed that so I'd absolutely ask for clarification 😁

RuthW · 04/08/2023 18:26

From 27th onwards

HarrietJet · 04/08/2023 18:28

I'd have assumed the last 7 days of August Confused. Seems I'm in the minority?

flyingant · 04/08/2023 18:38

It could either mean from the final Monday (28th) or the last 7 days (from 25th).

saltinesandcoffeecups · 04/08/2023 19:03

I realized I didn’t answer the original question (philosophical or not). I tend to class the last week of the month as the last full week so the week of the 28th. Yes in this case it’s not the flats full week but the last mostly full week.

Ohmylordnotagain · 04/08/2023 19:14

Mid fucking February, otter sanctuary on dartmoor re-opening mid feb that is the 14th it is literally mid February (not a leap year) drive to Dartmoor its not open 😡😡😡😡 this was years ago im still angry.
So its anybodies guess what the last week of August is 1-7 September maybe.

What date did they reopen?

TyneTeas · 04/08/2023 19:22

If August ends on a Monday and maybe on a Tuesday, I would assume it is the last full week in August, ie the week before

Furrydogmum · 04/08/2023 19:26

If I said it, I'd mean the week starting Monday including the last days in August and into Sept if the month ended mid week..

SongsYoullNeverHear · 04/08/2023 19:27

Same. My son has said he’s away for the last week in August and he means from 25th-31st, the last 7 days.

But OP should just ask the person to clarify if she thinks it could mean something else, what’s the point of asking anyone else? 🤣

Ohmylordnotagain · 04/08/2023 19:28

@TeaKitten no idea I was done with them.

NewNovember · 04/08/2023 19:29

The week commencing the 28th as that is the last week in August.

If they said mid Feb, I wouldn’t have taken it so literally and presumed the 14th. 😬

Any period of seven consecutive days is a week. It doesn't have to begin on a Monday?

Doihavetogotoworkdotcom1 · 04/08/2023 19:45

That scary feeling that it’s time to go back to work very soon.

Ohmylordnotagain · 04/08/2023 20:13

@SongsYoullNeverHear i do know what you mean i was just so annoyed tbf they should have given a date i shouldn't have been so literal (possibly, still secretly think im right 😂).
