Possible junkies using my bin shed

... to take drugs. Just walked past. I can hear two loud voices inside, just hanging out. Calling the police seems a bit OTT but reporting it to 101 seems a bit pointless too as it's the non-urgent number so they probably wouldn't even come check on it for a few days (if at all) and by that time they'll probably be gone. Any advice??

Maybe get a padlock for the shed?

EggOverEasy · 04/08/2023 16:58

Call 101 they can escalate if necessary

I wonder if one of them, at some point, will have an epiphany and suddenly realise that they’re hanging out in a bin shed, and totally rethink his/her life.

I hope so but it's happened before! I can't think of a grosser place to hang out.

There's a lock on the shed but they break it each time it's fixed.

There's a bit of this round our way, general lurking in front gardens off the high street. I'm a bit of a bastard, so generally stick my head out of the door and tell them to 'oi! Fuck off and do that somewhere else!! ' ... Usually just results in an eye roll and shuffling away.... . I think its worth standing up for your space or it'll get marked down as a usable address.
But then I've always been an arsey cow 😁

Too scared to do that!

If there were people on my property uninvited taking drugs I would call 999

SliceOfCakeCupOfTea · 04/08/2023 21:38

Get a sign that says it's covered by CCTV and/or use a real camera. Or get a pressure sensor alarm so that when the door opens an alarm sounds. Alarms are quite good at deterring people

winterchills · 04/08/2023 22:05

If they are breaking the lock sounds like they are there often so i would definitely inform the police. Via 101

drowningwitch · 04/08/2023 22:30

I would call 101, OP. It's not nice having this kind of thing near to your home. I have a lot of drug dealing next to my house. Initially I turned a blind eye as it's discrete and didn't involve use (and I didn't want to involve myself), but then things changed: a boy using in the alley, and - more disturbingly - a user completely out of his tree charging around my back garden demanding to be let in. I phoned 101 and was told that him being in my garden was a civil matter, which I should have realised. But they thanked me for informing them in case there were other incidents linked to this that they might act on.

Are they actually doing any harm? If not leave them to it. They will move on. Otherwise (if you feel unsafe) call the police.
