One late period, CD41. Usually I am always CD30-31, very regular, have always been. Latest on I’ve ever been was CD34 and that was a fluke - I understand stress, dietary changes can affect it but I’ve not done anything different this month to any other month.

I had all the signs of ovulation as usual around CD14-16… but mysteriously no period. That means a luteal phase of 25+ days. Not yet TTC but did a HCG strip just in case on CD32 but it was negative.

I am in my 20s. Any ideas?

Sorry to drip feed, just in case it wasn’t clear - still no period and it’s day 41.

I would sit and wait. I get this probably once a year where my period is ‘late’ by over a week. It then goes back to normal after that weird cycle. My periods are very regular as well.

Gazelda · 04/08/2023 16:47

I don't think I'd call a GP for this. But keep an eye on it and note it down.

You're not yet TTC, but from your post I sense you're hoping to very soon and getting yourself ready. All I can say is to try not to worry or get to tied up in knots over this just yet. Even if you were at the stage of TTC, I'm almost certain that your GP would suggest keeping an eye and see how things go for the next few months.

Good luck for when you're ready to TTC.

tt9 · 04/08/2023 16:50

i wouldnt reccommend you call your GP regarding this... periods can be late/absent for so many reasons... if you have 3 or more missed periods and no pregnancy... then would be worth giving them a call.

GoodChat · 04/08/2023 16:51

I've missed two periods and had abdominal and lower back pain for 6 weeks. I spoke the doctor today and was told to call back if I miss 3. It's standard NHS practice to only be concerned if you miss 3 or have specific other symptoms too.

OneAtATime · 04/08/2023 16:52

With a caveat that I’m not a doc - I wouldn’t speak to GP about that as a one off with no other symptoms - eg unusual pain/bleeding during sex. I’d keep an eye on cycle from now on and contact GP if happens again. Other things that can throw off cycle - weight, are you under/over BMI? Assuming you are not any hormonal contraception? Do you take any medication? Do you take recreational drugs? Do you exercise? Have you started a new (intense) exercise routine? Have you run a marathon this cycle? (Sort of joke but my period was two weeks late after I ran a marathon). No history of PCOS? Was period normal when it arrived? Do you have a history of anemia?

OneAtATime · 04/08/2023 16:54

Saw update still no period. I’d do at least one more pregnancy test to rule that out.

ManateeFair · 04/08/2023 17:02

I wouldn't even think of calling a GP over this - it's one late period, that's all. This is something that can happen with absolutely no obvious cause, and it's normal. You'd need to have an irregular cycle over a much longer stretch of time before it would be a matter for a GP.

You say you're not TTC, but you are tracking every detail of your cycle in a way that seems very intense and meticulous. Why is that? Are you using the rhythm method for birth control or something?

No to all of the above.

No we’re not I just like to keep track.

Hufflepods · 04/08/2023 17:03

No I wouldn’t. I can’t imagine the GP will do anything for you.

cheerioagain · 04/08/2023 17:03

@OneAtATime sorry I pressed send too soon! No no obvious changes is what I meant. Thank you! Will test again to be sure x

Gateappreciation · 04/08/2023 17:06

Majority of my periods were around 28 days but every so often would have a late one or miss one. I wouldn’t cal gp, kinked you had other worrying symptoms.

Gateappreciation · 04/08/2023 17:08

Unless not linked (?!)

Neverseenbefore · 04/08/2023 17:12

I wouldn’t call a GP for that, no.

Sunshineclouds11 · 04/08/2023 17:15

You can have afew missed periods in a year and as pp unless you have 3 missed they won't do anything.

Blueskysunflower · 04/08/2023 17:19

So you last did a pregnancy test when you were one day late? And now you’re 11 days late?

I wouldn’t phone the GP, I’d do another pregnancy test.

MumblesParty · 04/08/2023 17:32

what are you worried about?

ActDottie · 04/08/2023 17:35

I booked GP when I had the opposite. I was tracking ovulation as we were TTC and I didn’t ovulate but had a really early period! Around 18 day cycle and I was worried as we were on month 10 of TTC.

SwedishEdith · 04/08/2023 17:41

Wouldn't have ever occurred to me to ring a GP about this.

EggOverEasy · 04/08/2023 17:42

POAS again.

But one late period with no other symptoms really isn't anything to worry about.

shelbaby · 04/08/2023 19:35

I experienced this when I came off the pill. Sometimes it was 50-60days between periods. Over the course of 9 months I only had 4 periods 🤷🏻‍♀️ I still got pregnant though.

Unless ur actually ttc for a while I wouldn't bother contacting gp, they likely won't do anything. It might settle down by itself.

OneAtATime · 04/08/2023 20:29

@cheerioagain how would you feel about a BFP?

PinkDaffodil2 · 04/08/2023 20:32

If you’re otherwise well I’d call at about the 3 month mark as then they might do some blood tests. Is there anything particular you’re worried about? It’s very common to have the odd funny month.
