I grew up in the 90s and was distracted by boybands and found Pinks music genetic and nothing special.

I've just watched her tribute to Sinead O'Connor and her duets with Kelly Clarkson and I'm blown away by her as a performer and a person.

Oh I love pink!

FatCatBum · 02/08/2023 22:08

I've always thought she was great, but saw her at Hyde park in June. I was absolutely blown away

Comeonbarbiebrianharvey · 02/08/2023 22:12

I like pink but the tough girl I'm going to drink and fight did put me off in the past. I feel sad for Christina amazing amazing voice, a shame she did "dirty", the video was quite porno from what I remember and the lyrics pretty vile. I think the same about Rihanna, some of her songs are like porn in song form. So pink is quite refreshing.

I’ve seen P!nk live twice and it moved me to tears. Her voice was flawless, the acrobatics amazing (possibly better the first time at Wembley but hey we’re all getting older!). Dragged my DH along the second time and he was blown away, he said he’s never seen an artist look like they’re having so much fun!

Songbird54321 · 02/08/2023 22:29

I love pink. Have done since I was about 10 and didn't understand what I was listening to. She is by far my favourite singer. The others I like the odd song but she's the only artist I can listen to a full album and like them all.
I watch all her live shows but haven't been to one in person (I'm not good with crowds). If she does another stadium tour and I can get a box I'll be there!
My 6 year old has just discovered her and also loves her, although sometimes she comes across a 'swear' and is ever so put out 😂
I think because of what she sings about in a lot of her songs they don't necessarily resonate until you're a bit older

cocksstrideintheevening · 02/08/2023 22:31

I think Pink and Miley are hugely underrated but at the same time they've grown up and developed into music suits them. They'll have longevity rather than be a couple of hit wonders that were in fashion back in the day.

Cant take to Miley but perhaps il be here in 5 years in a similar vein.

I've been a fan since her very first album with "There You Go" and "Some Girls" - very R&B. Have seen her twice and she's the only artist I've seen who you can't distinguish live from album, that's how good she is.

BrandyandGinger · 02/08/2023 22:39

The lyrics to Don't Let Me Get Me are brilliant. I absolutely love Just Give Me A Reason with Nate Ruess, it's one of my favourite songs ever. She seems to have a good sense of humour and an amazing work ethic as well as the voice.

FrangipaniBlue · 02/08/2023 22:41

Loved her since her very first album!

I am almost the same age as her though so I was old enough to understand the lyrics and feel like her albums (which incidentally chronicle her life including her break up with Carey) have been a sound track to my life too!

No1 girl crush always

Thegrumpycup · 02/08/2023 22:42

Hhmmmm, I have to admit that I think Pink is one of those artists everybody raves about and I just don't quite get it. I really liked her back in the mid 00s. The album with Who Knew on it was one of my favourites. But then I just feel like her music is more of the same old same old. I think about other artists I loved from the mid 00s like the Killers and Kings of Leon. Their sound has evolved. While it feels like Pink is still singing the same kind of songs she did 15 years ago.

That being said, I do admire her for remaining so successful after the better part of 25 years and while largely avoiding the sexy starlet act that is expected of women in the music industry.

Idtotallybangdreamoftheendlessnotgonnalie · 02/08/2023 22:46

She was way before her time I think. I liked her back in 2005, but I didn't really "get" it back then.

She's absolutely fucking heroic on stage, I just saw her at Hyde park, and between her and Gwen Stefani I honestly don't think I came back as straight as I went in. She just comes across as so forthright, down to earth and honest, and her songs really resonate. She absolutely champions her kids too, but makes them work for it. Her daughter sang on stage, but equally she isn't allowed a mobile phone.

Overall it's probably one of the most enjoyable gigs I've ever been to.

It would honestly break my heart if it turned out she was one of those celebrity secret arseholes.

Songbird54321 · 02/08/2023 22:49

@WildUnchartedWaters I hope not, I'm 30 and she's resonating with me 😂

LunaNorth · 02/08/2023 22:51

You + Me is a great album. Her voice is amazing.

Donotshushme · 02/08/2023 22:55

She is utterly amazing. I love that she stands up for what she believes in. Her voice and her ability to perform is something else.

She's currently touring the US with brandi carlile and that's a show i would love to see.

While it feels like Pink is still singing the same kind of songs she did 15 years ago

I guess it would feel that way if you're not actually listening to her songs and how she's matured as a song writer over the years.

RitzyMcFitzy · 02/08/2023 20:56

'Pink, get doon!'

It’s better if you spell it: Pank… git doon 🤣

Siameasy · 02/08/2023 23:01

I actually really liked her RnB early stuff. That was an exciting time in music when everyone was going for that sound.
I did read that she had spoken out about aging more naturally which I personally appreciate as she’s a just few years younger than me. I’m sick to the back teeth of seeing my favourites looking frozen or just totally not themselves (Gwen Stefani 😭) and I’m all about embracing aging so - good.

Justtobeclear · 02/08/2023 23:02

I felt the same until I saw her at Isle of Wight festival in 2010. The whole performance was incredible! However, I find some artists I prefer live/at gigs and don’t really enjoy listening to their music at home/in the car. Would happily see her live whenever I can though!

backoffbuster · 02/08/2023 23:06

I also am a late appreciator of pink. It’s only recently that I’ve stopped to admire her music, but also to notice that she seems like a decent, grounded person. And a great female role model!

timeafterdime · 02/08/2023 23:08

I really like her and think she's very talented.

Not remotely interested in her yanking her daughter into the limelight and I feel the same about Beyonce as well.

PatrickGammon · 02/08/2023 23:19

Pink is amazing. Didnt really like her rnb stuff when it came out, I think she is better suited to rock/pop/bluesy music.

Dear Mr. President makes me bawl like a baby. It's about George W Bush and the lyrics hit me hard
