Posting for traffic ..holiday advice!

Any help would be appreciated 🙂
(You helped me to pick a suitable destination last year .. )

My DS is 9 and animal mad.
Thinking of booking a holiday to calpe in Spain and then doing excursions to Valencia for the zoo and aquarium.
Is this doable? Is this better than staying in Valencia itself? (Would be going the end of July next year).

Not sure the zoo there is particularly amazing?

What about Barcelona? There’s a zoo there and loads to do. Could do a stadium tour too, if your ds is onto football? Or a bit left field, but what about Almeria? Quieter beaches and an amazing cowboy park / zoo just a short drive away - a zoo with real cowboys and outdoor shows!

Valencia is lovely, only been there on a cruise and we went to the beach and taxi driver took us on a little tour.

Thanks for replying! Would you say that there was enough for a ten night stay? So instead of staying in calpe we could stay in Valencia?

He is keen to do beach stuff as well as look at animals

Have you looked at prague? The zoo is amazing. Plus castles in and nearby with lots of original furnishing and weaponry if anyone is into history.
The zoo took us all day. Tickets are like tenner

It might be astonishingly hot there.
. What about staying on site in a safari park like berkse bergen (sp) in Netherlands?.. It has pool, play areas, safari park and you can stay at side of the field where the animals are.

I've not actually been but it sounds amazing.

If you did bb I would also do a day or night in Amsterdam. It's got the best most fun science musuem I've ever seen. Way, way better than london one.

We've been here this week as a day trip, really excellent 👌safari resort looks great

We've been a few to to various places which have beeb excellent. It's been a surprising child friendly holiday destination for me! Easy... Easy to drive and get around, super friendly people, not packed and road jammed like here.

Apprently their landals are great and de kemperven.... Like center parks but better

You could stop in somewhere like Salou and do a day trip to both Barcelona and Valencia from there…

Just been reading about hot weather in Valencia..so Salou could be an option but Netherlands sounds amazing too!

The Oceanogràfic in Valencia is very good, well worth a visit if your kid likes sealife. You can easily spend half a day there, plus there are some very interactive science museums in the same complex (Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciències) that are great for kids. However, you may well get bored over 10 days in Valencia - it's more of a destination for young Spanish adults, not really long family trips. Barcelona zoo is not worth it.

Salou is the perfect example of a nice town that has been turned into a wastelane by the worst kind of tourism. It's very near my city, but I wouldn't go there in summer if you paid me.

All of the east coast has similar weather in summer. Temperatures are usually in the low 30s, but the humidity is the real problem. We have a lot of mosquitos. Tropical nights are common in summer, which can be hard to sleep through if you're not used to them.

Depending on budget etc, have a look at this zoo-hotel in Belgium: https://www.pairidaiza.eu/en/pairi-daiza-resort I have not been there (yet) but it looks like a once-in-a-lifetime trip for an animal lover!

Depends what the object of your holiday is. Animals? Then there's loads of places in the UK you can go to!

I really like Calpe, I think there is a train that goes to Valencia from there but the train station in Calpe is a bit out of town. Lots of lovely towns on the Costa Blanca - Calpe, Denia, Javea, Moraira etc. Valencia is a great city but probably would stay in one of the above towns and do a say trip.

He wants to spend some time by the pool, beach but also go on trips particularly if they involve animals 😀

What's your budget? As San Diego has a great zoo and Sea World (controversial I know) with the benefit of the Californian weather, Pacific beach and msy other attractions nearby.
