Furry sliders

Why the hate? I have a visceral reaction to them but can't explain it. I really dislike sliders in general, but as before not sure why?

Its when they are coupled with Tippex white painted toenails slightly too long that makes me shudder

Calistano · 04/08/2023 14:35

All of the evil little fuckers around here used to wear them. Along with camel toe tastic cycling shorts and crop top.

Calistano · 04/08/2023 14:38

Haven't seen them for awhile, the Minecraft furry coat is a thing tho. Even in hot weather.

MoonsHaunted · 04/08/2023 14:50

Thought these peaked in 2016 with the Rihanna x Puma fur sliders. Love them for around the house and taking the bins out though.

Assuming that you are careful not to get bin juice on the furry bit 😳.

They're horrible things. You can't wash them so the furry bits must absolutely stink after being in contact with bare feet. Rotten.

Crocs don't bother me that much - I'm no fan but I can see how they would be useful. Plus, they can easily be cleaned. Tevas, on the other hand, they're awful looking things. There were these dreadful slider things around, about 15 years ago or so - nasty cheap looking black things with an enclosed toe, a raised pattern and a small buckle. Yuk.

Their fetishisation was my eureka moment that I am, now, officially old and out of touch.

Sigh.

They just look a bit Katie Price tacky or like slippers worn outside the house.

I think furry sliders = live, life, laugh, love written somewhere on wall at home, extra long fake nails and lip fillers.

I think the same!

Ghost21 · 22/01/2024 23:47

As no fashion sense and seem to think it's trendy

XenoBitch · 22/01/2024 23:50

I have not hate for them. But why are people wearing them outside? I don't get it.

Fionaville · 22/01/2024 23:57

I agree. To me, sliders are for warmer weather and/or round swimming pools. So it makes no sense that they are furry.

KimJongUnusual · 25/02/2024 13:21

On the topic of 'sliders', who was the fuckwit who started calling them that? They've always been flip-flops to me and mine and I've got a pair bought in Greece 20 years ago when they were sold as flip-flops, so flip-flops they will remain.

Comefromaway · 25/02/2024 13:28

i thought flip flops were the ones with the thing around your big toe (I can’t wear them as I hate the feeling) but sliders are one bar shape thing across the toes.

Exactly this!

KimJongUnusual · 25/02/2024 22:48

As far as I'm concerned, both the mule type and the 'toe post' type of poolside footwear are called flip-flops. I only read the term sliders in some clothes catalogue last month. I had to Google it and even then it was easier to find flip-flops than sliders.

Comefromaway · 26/02/2024 10:05

They've been selling sliders in sports shops for years.
