COVID at 40w pregnant

Posting here for traffic…

Tomorrow is my due date & I have just tested positive for covid. I’ve been full of cold on & off for 2 weeks now. I hadn’t thought much of it & wouldn’t ordinarily have tested, but these last couple of days I noticed I literally can’t taste or smell anything. I’ve informed the midwife & tomorrow will receive a “covid pack” including blood thinning injections & (I think she said) BP monitor etc.

Has anyone given birth recently whilst testing positive for covid? I’ve done a bit of reading & it looks as though risks to the baby are low, so now I guess I’m most petrified about my husband testing positive & not being able to be with me for the birth (he’s not showing any symptoms yet). Does anyone know if this would be the case?? We’re in the Midlands, UK.

I should have asked the midwife I spoke to earlier but I was too upset. Not had the easiest pregnancy so this just feels like the cherry on top.

Tell your husband not to test. You’re over thinking this. Just ignore your result as well.

Wtf would you tell the OP to put herself at increased risk by ignoring the result of her test @Lingfield01 ? Thank God she's got more sense than you.

OP I'm sure it will be fine and your dh will be with you unless he's falling down sick which is v unlikely.

A "Covid pack" with blood thinners is ridiculously OTT at 40 weeks pregnant. I'm a midwife and there I work there is no longer any special treatment or monitoring for a case of Covid that is not severe.
