What bit me???

Sorry, posting for traffic. Something bit me at the back of my knee and I have no clue what it could be. It is really itchy, red and bumpy but does not look like a mosquito bite. Might've been a spider, but I can't see the two dots either.

Any ideas?

It could honestly be anything from a gnat to an ant to a biting fly. Even ladybirds can bite!

There are so many biting insects out there and I think the shape of the bite is just unusual because it’s in the crease of your knee. The shape of the bite comes from the way the allergen spreads, and that’s affected by the movement of the location.

I tend to react really badly to bites and stings and most of the time I don’t have any idea what the culprit was - I sympathise. But an antihistamine tablet and a bite cream should help a bit if it’s itching you to distraction.
