I've got a very busy 9m old who's cruising and a liability at home. Who also gets grizzly and bored if we stay home all day now. And a 4 year old going to full time school in September 😢
I wanted to do 1 nice planned thing a week in the holidays to help pass the time.
A local (1hr away) riding school and farm attraction with indoor play areas had a deal on where you pay for entry, but mini horse rides we're £2. Which would be ideal for my 4 year old. So I messaged my MIL (who loves horses and who's bday is this week). To ask if she fancied taking the kids, I'd pay for her.
She was really keen so we thought about taking his 2 cousins who are 8 & 10 as well. And I'd pay for it as an early bday present for them.
I was about to book tickets for the following day (it had all been arranged with my separated BIL & SIL which is a task in itself).
And when I was checking if my BIL or FIL would be coming she was very vague, and said only she would want to ride. I explained everyone attending would need an entry ticket (which I was happy to book).
An hour later I get a phone call, she's giving allll the reasons we couldn't go. The weather (light rain forcast), the girls had been unwell the previous week so now suddenly it wasn't a good idea to take them, and my FIL was in the background shouting about the price.
So we cancelled, and I was super easygoing about it because I know my FIL gets like that and it's not the first time he's had a bit of a meltdown over going somewhere.
I messaged my MIL saying I was still going to go at some point and we rearranged for the following week. The offer was only on set days which limited the choice.
We're meant to be going tomorrow... And it's 4 blobs rain and thunder forcast!!!
Now a big part of me really still wanta to go because the last day had ended up fine despite the forcast. And I'm kinda resolute that I don't let my FIL spoil the fact we didn't go. As the offer stops tomorrow and after that it's just too expensive to do the horse ride.
WWYD?
