No wonder the rest of the world laughs at us Brits moaning about the weather

Just seen a clip on BBC news of an Asian bride walking down a flooded aisle after a typhoon. Everyone is smiling and just getting on with it.

Yet we are moaning about a bit of rain at the moment. We really have no resilience and considering our weather is going to get more dramatic, we need to change our mindset and coping strategies.

Some times we talk about weather while we queue

I'm not moaning about the rain at all. Or the coolness. Don't lump us all together OP.

I am loving this weather. I don’t do well with heat. It’s nice and cool but not so cold you need a blanket all the time either

What do you think British people do if it rains on their wedding day?. They get on with it and enjoy it as much as they can. Idiotic post.

Are you really comparing British rain with a typhoon??Confused

Germans consider themselves to have a reputation for complaining about the weather. I've a client at the other end of Germany and we often start our emails to each other with 'hope you're coping in this heat' or 'urgh, rain and wind, hope it brightens up for you'.

I do think Brits can be a bit feeble about heat (the moderate kind, not the dangerous kind), and always boggle at the idea that 23°C+ is 'hot'. But complaining about the weather is a social lubricant, as it's a safe topic.

It is the last bit of your post which I think the posters on MN who live in other parts of the world find so strange. People in every country have a bit of a moan about weather which doesn't suit them, but I have yet to hear anyone here go overboard about temps over 20 degrees and how they simply "can't cope". It really does make overseas posters laugh and wonder if all Brits are such delicate flowers.

It’s all relative to where you live. My friend lives in southern portugal & finds Brits complaining that 25 degrees is sooo hot hilarious. On the other hand I think it’s funny when I go there in winter and it’s 18 degrees. im wandering around with a light jacket & they’re wearing coats because ‘so cold’
