Yes another why don’t you read the updates but my question is ...why bother saying it to posters?

Yes it’s annoying when a thread has moved on and pages and page later or many days after posters will reply to the original opening post and add their helpful comments. However to the people saying “RTFT!!!, OP already said/did XYZ ages ago, OP has updated, the least you can do is see all OP’s posts” - do you really think posters that don’t bother reading updates, looking at the date the OP posted or how many pages have been created will take any notice of your RTFT messages?

Wish there was some kind of button, colour changing ribbon or something that shows readers the thread has moved on since the first OP, but alas until then we will have to contend with shouts of cancel the cheques followed by the cries of RTFT she HAS cancelled the cheque!

People can read as much as they want to read, and no one has the authority to instruct them to read more

people might not read the first 10 pages, but they will often go back and read the responses after their own comment.

I think you are way to invested in what is nothing more than a bog standard chat forum!

I agree, a person not RTFT and plopping in with something irrelevant can be really infuriating, but it's made worse by a dozen people then quoting them and telling them off. Just let us get back to the actual discussion, please!

If it's a long thread, surely it's basic courtesy/common sense to check where the discussion has reached?

I do sometimes wonder if the option to read all the OP's posts has by-passed some people. I don't understand why posters don't at least do that before posting. But then there are so many things I don't understand about so many on mn 🤣

There is a button to move quickly along the OPs posts, those usually contain enough quotes to work out roughly where the thread has gone and it takes usually a couple of minutes at most, then skim the last page.

I can see why it's frustrating as it's so jarring. But I blame the app, it doesn't bookmark properly and there's no delineation of where you finished reading.

And yet you thought this comment was worthy of its own thread.

Unless its spelled out or people click on it, its not always obvious to newer people that there is a 'SEE ALL' button. I certainly had no idea I could read the OP's posts by clicking on it till I'd been on MN over a year. Maybe my own stupidity, but it wasn't obvious to me.
