To have left my job?

I've worked part time just a couple of days a week somewhere for about 18 months. It's a bit like my comfort zone, the team is a bit like my family, I get one with everyone so well and know the job. It's relaxed really.. can get a drink when you like etc.
I've now decided to go back to the career I had before having kids, it's more money and mainly it means I get my weekends back. It does mean my youngest has to go to childcare one day a week though.
Am I selfish and silly to leave a decent job just for weekends back?

No. You need to do what you need to do and if having weekends free and extra money coming in is what makes your work-life balance better then do it!

I think just do what works for you at the time. I had a fill on job when my kids were small then went part time when the eldest was taking her exams as she needed me at home, then went back to my career a year later and have been full time since. My youngest (15) has never minded and also enjoys the fact I’m around all weekend and we have more disposable income.

good luck in the new job :)

Yes, you're the most selfish and worst mum ever for putting your child in childcare 1 day a week and earning more money to give them a better life and future.

Indeed

this is like the absolute min, I couldn’t work somewhere where you need permission to get a drink!
