He now wants to get rid of 20mph speed limits. Maybe when one of his kids gets run over on the way to the park will he give a shit. I despise him.

20's fine imo and I stick to it. Small roads, schools, lots of parked cars mainly near me.

Superpinkflowerpower · 30/07/2023 22:27

what a pathetic title, I don't know any one who does 20 any way, I certainly don't.

RosieBurdock · 30/07/2023 22:29

noblegiraffe · 30/07/2023 21:02

Rishi is utterly desperate, tweeting today that Labour are 'anti-motorist'.

So he's now trying to make road safety a culture war? And the same for climate change?

What a shitty, amoral, clinging to power, soundbite-trotting twat of a weak leader he is. No integrity, no vision or values, simply saying whatever he thinks might sway any votes in his favour from the rapidly dwindling pool of people stupid enough to consider voting for his party after a dire 13 years in government.

Good post.

Well Ulez won Uxbridge for the conservatives, so expect to see much more of this. Time and time again it has been proven that people vote out of self interest.

By 500 votes. And it's not a decision that's in the hands of the local mp anyway.

PatientZorro · 30/07/2023 22:31

Yes, he’s rounding them all up in his child-catcher van so he can bake them into pies

Boomboom22 · 30/07/2023 22:32

20 zones are stupid and rishi is apparently helping children with new pshe guidance so yabvvu.

If you believe that Rishi cares about the health, safety or education of the children of this country you are very naive.

Boomboom22 · 30/07/2023 22:33

Pretty sure you are misremembering as well, it's 30 instead of 40 that reduces from death to less serious injury from the adverts.

toomuchlaundry · 30/07/2023 22:33

I don’t think all 20 zones are enforceable but just advisory.

You should care about the health, safety and education of children though. If you don't give a shit about it either, probably not the best website for you.

BiscuitsandPuffin · 30/07/2023 22:38

Dramatic thread title.
Stupid thing to declare.

Those 20 zones are stupid because they haven't been properly signed, half the time they just get changed overnight with no warning/publicity/large signage, and in areas the councillors live/naice areas protecting naice children, and fuck the regular kids who get nothing like usual.

When a national speed limit turns into a 30 zone, we get a big sign on both sides of the road, and vice versa. When 30 turns to 40 (and back again) the same happens. But these 20 zones just suddenly change and the only way you know is piddly little lamp post "reminder" signs instead of a big sign at the start of the zone making it clear. Of course people are confused/ignore them/try to overtake. It's hard enough getting people to follow speed limits that have been properly signed on the road never mind this nonsense.

And why SHOULD anyone go at 20 past a school at 3am during the holidays??? Time-sensitive speed limits (like on smart motorways) would be much more sane/sensible/safe.

This is a perfect summary of why people hate politicians

I am a socialist and would put societies needs before my own because it brings its own rewards in the long run.

People who vote out of not wanting inconvenience or who are wanting to keep their cushy retirements are so shortsighted.

One of the reasons the conservatives do not want to change the voting age, want to add in ID to vote and don't want electoral reform

Selfish people vote Tory

Not really you call to decide if this forums is the place for me is it or what I should care about is it?

You seem a bit over invested in declaring what others should do, may be keep your beak out of others lives.

PS its a forum and people are entitles to not have the same opinion as you, may be your just new to the internet and forums 😂

A new study from Queen’s University Belfast, Edinburgh University, and the University of Cambridge has found that reducing speed limits from 30mph to 20mph has had ‘little impact’ on road safety.

You're not capable of responding, so are just posting silly expressions you've copied off the Internet instead. Not even anything you've thought of yourself. Not worth engaging with you.

Oh can you please do the same for me too. Please stop engaging with me 😂

SunflowerSunflower · 30/07/2023 22:47

I don’t think it’s a ridiculous title. A tad dramatic but entirely accurate if you discount the children of the wealthy few.

Pollution kills children. Lots of evidence. As well as increasing risk of dementia.

His rolling back on environmental commitments will also kill children and leave them with an uncertain future.

So whilst it’s a slightly dramatic title, it’s also factual.

SunflowerSunflower · 30/07/2023 22:51

BiscuitsandPuffin

Where I live you always get the bigger sign first. Then the repeaters. If you can see some are missing in your area then report it because there should be a large one first and then repeaters.

Blossomtoes · 30/07/2023 22:54

BaronessEllarawrosaurus · 30/07/2023 19:45

I've not seen a 20mph area that actually works. Either they're too bendy for 30 or cars do 30 if not more. Its not a speed limit that people take much notice of.

That’s because driving at 20mph is virtually impossible. A new 20 zone has just been introduced here - God knows why - it’s bloody dangerous because everyone is so focused on their speed they’re not concentrating on driving.

Problemcat · 30/07/2023 22:55

This is his new stance. I’ve heard it on the news for days he’s ‘on the side of drivers’

fuck the climate
fuck pedestrians

he doesn’t care as he has chauffeurs. He’s a complete cunt

WhiteFire · 30/07/2023 22:57

I live in a council area that has a 20mph limit on residential streets, the more main roads are still 30. I don't get the angst if I'm honest, there are a couple of roads that I use that I wonder why there is the 20 limit but you just deal with it.

It personally isn't something that is that important to me in terms of voting decisions, it wouldn't be the issue that gained or lost my vote, though I would wonder why a local candidate had it in their manifesto to overturn it.

moonbeamsokay · 30/07/2023 22:58

That’s because driving at 20mph is virtually impossible

If you can't drive at 20mph you are not competent. You are a danger to the public and you should not have a licence.
