Husband asked me to iron his shirts inside out

I have been ironing my husbands shirts for years which I don’t really mind doing, it’s not the worst chore we have, but it’s very time consuming.

Now he’s asking me to iron the upside down and I think that’s crazy, is this a thing? I think it would be really hard to do it properly and it would just get wrinkled again straight away when you turn it around so I told him to iron his shirts by himself which he is now doing. He did have a moan about it though saying it’s ruining his shirts and it’s not how it should be me asking him to do his own shirts just because he’s asked me to do it differently. That he won’t just turn and ask me to pay for the mortgage tomorrow, which I think is unfair as he is a high earner and I earn basically just over min wage but work 40hr weeks and do all the housework and look after the kids.

Missing the point too, but quit your job. Take an empty bag into work and go for a nice walk, a sit in the sunshine at the park, have a massage.

Since he earns so much more than you and you are doing all the household work, there are far better ways you can spend those 40 hours than at a job.

He should be sharing all household chores. Why haven’t you put your foot down about that? I never iron unless it’s really needed. I watched my mum tie herself to an ironing board for hours on a Sunday night and swore I wouldn’t be doing that.

Dh is a high earner - I'm not really working at the moment despite both my DC having left school. My housekeeper had a day off this week for a medical appointment and so the ironing is backing up a bit. Guess who ironed the shirts this afternoon (it wasn't me...). He also ironed a tablecloth and napkins that are needed on Tuesday as the ironing board was out.

Get him to do them or if you are going to do them, shirts look better ironed inside out. Ironing on the right side makes them shiny. Between the buttons can be done using the very tip (thats what the ridge is for) of the iron on the right side with or without an ironing cloth. Most of that material won't be seem as it will be under the buttonhole. Sleeves also look better without the crease.

Iron them inside out and put them on hangers like that. All he has to do is turn them the correct way before he wears them. His choice.
