To be very suspicious of large plastic sheeting that has appeared in my garden

Suddenly overnight a very large piece of plastic sheeting has appeared in my garden. I have no idea what it is, where it came from or what I should do with it now! It is very unlikely to be neighbours as we are far apart and it wasn’t in a throwable location from either of the boundary fences. It is a little bit concerning because it looks to me like someone gently placed it where it was! I went out and moved it with DS but now I don’t know what to do with it. DH says I am being crazy by thinking it’s suspicious. But it wasn’t there last night and it was just there this morning! So of course I’m confused and don’t know why he’s not.

It was pretty windy last night around here. It is likely as simple as having blown in from somewhere.

Adelstrop · 30/07/2023 16:02

If it is as windy where you are as it is here, it’s probably just blown in from somewhere further away from your neighbours.

Virginsexonthebeachplease · 30/07/2023 16:02

Why on Earth would someone just place some plastic sheeting there OP?

IncompleteSenten · 30/07/2023 16:02

Is it a roll or a flat piece?

If the latter it'll be the wind.

If the former then maybe someone fly tipped it.

TulipCat · 30/07/2023 16:27

Oh dear, don't move to my area OP. We get all sorts in our garden. It comes from foxes, wind, birds. I never give it a second thought.

TheBeautifulLisette · 30/07/2023 16:29

It's super-windy across much of the UK and western Europe so my bet's on the wind.

Aliens

First post nailed it. Has it got weird squiggles on it?

Hellocatshome · 30/07/2023 16:29

As in a stiff perspex sheet or flexible plastic like plastic wrapping? How big?

Even if someone put it there I cant imagine what suspicious activity they may be up to apart from fly tipping in your garden.

Daisydukes79 · 30/07/2023 16:32

We had a pop up tent fly away out our garden - my oh improved it to cut the grass and the next day we had high winds. We have no idea where it ended up

TRexTara · 30/07/2023 16:35

Someone was using it to bury a body but it flew off in the wind. Probably lots of dead bodies in your local park too. Might be a serial killer situation.

KimberleyClark · 30/07/2023 16:43

Wind.

Rudicoolcat · 30/07/2023 17:13

👽🤫

GunkyAndGungey · 30/07/2023 17:14

Um have you ever heard of weather, more specifically wind? It blew there.

10HailMarys · 30/07/2023 17:16

Your DH is not confused because there is nothing confusing about some plastic sheeting blowing into your garden during the night.

BinkyBeaufort · 30/07/2023 17:45

Is your neighbour called Dexter?

Twyford · 30/07/2023 17:52

Why make such a big thing of it? It either blew there or got fly-tipped. Stick it in with the rubbish to be collected.

AMuser · 30/07/2023 17:54

Suspicious?

You’re going to need to expand on that OP 😂

isthismylifenow · 30/07/2023 17:54

So someone is missing their roof of their patio then....

MargaretThursday · 30/07/2023 17:56

It was windy last night. It's probably from some scaffolding. Has anyone got some near you?

TwelfthGiraffe · 30/07/2023 17:59

A lot of criminals do this as a way of communicating with each. A large carefully placed piece of plastic sheeting means “Do not burgle. Possibility of very angry dog and TV is not HD”.

The signals you need to look out for a tennis racket on a blue wheelie bin and a whole salmon left facing north-westerly on a wall. Both are bad news.

itsdecluttertime · 30/07/2023 17:59

Is it human sized and has your DH bought a shovel and patio stones recently?

Frydaycryday · 30/07/2023 18:01

Your husband is planning to kill you and wrap your body. Only explanation for it

ALongHardWinter · 30/07/2023 18:14

I don't know what part of the country you're in OP,but if it was as windy where you live as it was here last night,it's quite possible that it got blown in.

Thank you so much for this crucial and necessary information. This could be very helpful to many of us.
