Parcel left on porch stolen

EVRIwoes · 29/07/2023 19:17

EVRI delivered a parcel and left it on the porch. It’s been taken. AIBU to expect them to refund cost of parcel? What usually happens?

Had you designated the porch as a safe place to leave parcels?

purpleme12 · 29/07/2023 19:18

I don't know what usually happens but YANBU.
I often wonder about this now they leave them there.
They've left a ring doorbell on mine before which is expensive to me

Brainfogmcfogface · 29/07/2023 19:19

Happens a lot to me, and Evri don’t learn from it. If it was a product from a business then contact the company and they’ll refund you and deal with Evri, if it was personal, contact the sender and they need to make a a claim.

Claims handler here. If you have insurance you most likely won't receive a refund as it's been classed as "unattended" whether your fault or not. If you have selected a safe place and it's been stolen from there, then you need to contact the company you purchased it from and they can take that up with the courier. Happens so often. It's annoying. Sorry OP.

I don’t remember saying ok to leave it on the porch but have previously. This time I was away when it arrived - expected DH would be in but he wasn’t. A different and unexpected parcel arrived so when he said that a parcel had arrived I assumed it was that one and it’s only now I’m home that I realise it’s not. Photo on EVRI site of it by the door.

Thanks for replies btw. Appreciated. It’s schooL uniform so quite expensive. And sooo annoying.

I have never said leave mine outside my door.
It doesn't make a difference. Whichever delivery company more often than not leaves it there.

Wrong.

If OP didn't tell the courier to leave the parcel in a safe space then the retailer owes them a refund or replacement.

It's not the OP's responsibility to claim on their insurance.

EsmeSusanOgg · 29/07/2023 19:39

This is the responsibility of the sender, they need to send either a refund or replacement. They then claim against Evri.

HelloItsMeAgainHello · 29/07/2023 21:11

Some companies save your preference for a safe place. You need to check that ideally. As if you don't have it as a designated safe place then the retailer will normally refund. It you chose it as a safe place it's much more vague

malmi · 29/07/2023 21:14

You don't have a contact with EVRI. You need to contact the seller and politely insist on them sending a replacement or giving a full refund. They can then take it up with EVRI. Offer your full cooperation on that front. Good luck.

jgjgjgjgjg · 29/07/2023 21:17

The seller will need to refund or replace. Evri won't be interested as they aren't your customer

SlowlyLosing · 29/07/2023 21:24

Your contract is with the seller, you haven't received the item. Tell them, if it's a business they'll be used to it, if it's an individual it is still their problem.

I'm waiting for this to happen to me. They leave things on my doorstep in full view of the street. I'm in! They don't even bother ringing the doorbell.

CottonSock · 29/07/2023 21:26

I have been fully refunded both times it happened to me. Contact the company you purchased from
