Is my Mother taking advantage?

My mother asked me to pick her up some mashed potato. When I arrived at her property and put it in the refrigerator, I noticed she already had one! I also noticed she had Tesco Finest meat in the fridge and 4 different types of bread in the cupboard. She always borrows money off me and pays it back usually when she gets her PIP. AIBU to think she should be more savvy with her finances?

What does she get PIP for? If it's help with daily living, then perhaps this confusion over what food she has/needs is all part of it?

Does she need a bit of help with this?

It's not like she's asking you buy her these things, it seems like she pays you back. But it's not an ideal situation to be in if you have to keep borrowing money and then paying it back. It would be better to have a tighter month without borrowing then get on track.

I don't think she's confused, I think she could cut back on her grocery shopping. It's a vicious cycle. The same money just keeps going round.

Didn’t you ask her why she needed more when you saw she already had some? It’s unusual to have four types of bread on the go at the same time, too.

Nobody here knows if she is taking advantage of you or has other things going on. Might she just want to ensure you call in?

If she pays you back that’s fine?

Maybe she feels nervous if she doesn’t have a little extra food in the house in case she can’t afford it at the end of the month? I would.
