Decluttering

I honestly cannot tell you how long I've been putting it off - but today I finally properly cleared out my young girls bedrooms 😅. It's been weighing on my mind for months and months, but I just haven't had the chance. I woke up today (the only free day in a long long time) with absolutely zero energy... Normally I would have just left it, but thought instead I'll just make a start... Then got into it, and four hours later have just about finished... It's by no means perfect, but so much better. I've felt so low recently and this has helped, at least for today. I just wanted to tell someone 😂

well done! I find those jobs are harder to start than others. And you get to that awful point halfway through here everything is just strewn about and it’s too late to go back 😩

Great job! I need to do a housewide declutter but just haven't managed it yet

I love this post! Tell us more about what you managed to get rid of. I daydream of being able to declutter my girls’ room and can’t motivate myself to start

I love a good declutter. It can be hard work but I always feel better after.

Yes, how many bags of stuff have gone?

Marie Kondo has great tips for decluttering. Her system is (1) take everything out of the cupboards (2) keep what you love. This feels more positive than looking at shelves thinking "I should get rid of some of this"

My tip is to keep going. Little and often is the way to go. From time to time, I look at eg an ornament or book and think "Nah, that can go". Over time, the amount of stuff reduces

Amazing work. We did the whole house over last summer so I know how hard you'll have worked, and how good you'll feel right now!

We're planning to move house in the near future and decluttered recently in preparation. No kids but we've lived here for 25 years. It's such a lovely feeling!

Well done. I want to do a room next week.

That’s a great achievement. I have been the same this week, after years of living with clutter, I have made a massive start on getting rid of things.
Paperwork has been my worst clutter item, but I bought a good quality shredder and I have shred my way through enough paper to fill two bin bags.
I need to get rid of the kids toys and books they have outgrown. That will be tough but I need to get rid as they don’t read the books any more and they’re just taking up space.

hopefully you will stay motivated this weekend.
