Made a big effort to attend a retirement party, including arranging babysitter for DC, transport to and from train station, buying overpriced drinks and overpriced rubbish food. But these things don't get off the ground unless everyone make the effort right? During the evening the retiree happily informed us that he managed to secure a booking at a much swankier place for the 'senior leadership party' to which us lesser beings were obviously not invited. It really irked me. But also I am finding a lot of hierarchical corporate BS harder to deal with as I get older. AIBU?
