Bored at work

I work in an office alone. I am on top of all of my work and unlikely anything new will come in today. I have to stay in the office - WWYD - I need something to relieve the boredom!

Well, you're on Mumsnet, so that's a good start!

Danikm151 · 25/07/2023 11:49

  • Clean back of the computer/phone/seat/desk
  • Start Christmas shopping
  • Online sudoku/mahjong/game
  • Online surveys for money
  • Take crochet/knitting or a good book tomorrow

Go out for a long, leisurely lunch

Demolishthecreamcake · 25/07/2023 12:11

I'd love to go our for a long lunch but sadly have to sit here until 5pm.
Some good suggestions here.
Christmas shopping lol! Hang your head in shame.

Ah, but how will anyone know you're not sitting there?!

Demolishthecreamcake · 25/07/2023 12:16

There is a chance my boss will ring or will 'pop in'. Highly unlikely but possible.

How often does this happen?
Are you restricted on what you can look at online?

If this is regular I'd be tempted to start an online qualification or course. OU do a few short courses for free which I think are quite interesting

Demolishthecreamcake · 25/07/2023 12:24

It used to happen regularly but then we got really busy. It will hopefully only be for a short time. My PC is monitored but I have my own laptop I can use. Handy! I will have a look at OU right now. Thank you.

Yoga stretches in the room

Firkinhavinalaugh · 25/07/2023 12:25

Are you on your own? I’d be tempted to catch up on Netflix!

Oysterbabe · 25/07/2023 12:26

I'd read a book on my kindle app.
Can you offer to help a colleague?

Invisimamma · 25/07/2023 12:59

In this situation I sort all my emails and files, deleting anything unnecessary. Tidy and clean my desk. Do any forward planning I need to do. CPD courses and online learning

Then online shopping, mumsnet and generally faff about. I do things like type up packing lists for holiday or any home stuff like renewing insurances and booking trips.

LMNT · 25/07/2023 13:03

I’d start an online course

Danikm151 · 25/07/2023 21:35

Touch typing practices online are a great way to pass the time
