Anyone watching this programme on C4? It's the most dystopian thing I've ever seen.

Growing meat from human cells! I mean, really? Is this a piss take? It just smacks of a horror story!

The more I watch, the more stupid I feel for even asking! However, this sounds like it could be a reality in the future!

There’s another thread. It’s a spoof

its getting more daft as it goes on but was really believable for the first 5 minutes I saw it. I really thought I was losing it!

I remember a really interesting moral example from university about if we could 'grow' bodies without brains would it be ethical to harvest their organs. Consensus was yes. Eat them? Not so much!

I made it to the last bit about premium before I thought no way and googled it. Feel a bit stupid but thought it could be possible with science and tech now

Scatterbrainbox · 24/07/2023 21:04

Is it a spoof? Thank god. I caught some of it at the gym before and felt pathetically upset since !

Arniesleftleg · 25/07/2023 07:16

@Schmoana me too! I lost it when the lady was in the operating theatre and the surgeon basically said another butt cheek would earn the lady £200 🤣

I suppose it says something about society that quite a number of people seem to have watched it and actually have to ask 'is it a spoof'

Well what do you think for gods sake

Kendodd · 26/07/2023 20:32

The programme makers missed a trick, they should have got a government minister on to endorse it.

Helendegenerate · 26/07/2023 20:37

Does anyone remember the 1973 film Soylent Green ?

Ew, I could just see Jacob Rees Mogg endorsing the consumption of poor people 🫣

Jonathan Swift did the same thing with "A Modest Propsal" in 1729 - nothing is new. But the fact that some people struggle to recognise satire is a bit depressing....

Eating normal meat is just so unfashionable now. So not progressive. Eating insects and other humans is the way to go. Good for the planet, innit?
