25yo DSD - 40-50 hours a week (trainee solicitor)
24yo DS - anywhere between 50 and 60 hours a week - in a trade that he loves.
22yo DSD - just finished Uni - 0 hours
20yo DD - 40 hours a week and not a minute more if she can help it

DaisyThistle · 24/07/2023 19:08

One son still finishing uni but works 16-20 hours pw as an intern

One son just finished uni and just returned from a psorts fixture and looking for a job but also in process of moving, so 0 hours right now but I'm hoping he;ll sort that out in a few weeks!

PinkiOcelot · 24/07/2023 19:11

My dd has just turned 22. She works full time and has done since 16 when she started her degree apprenticeship.

Sarfar45 · 24/07/2023 19:12

My daughter is 20 she works full time

TheWayoftheLeaf · 24/07/2023 19:14

I'm 28 and work 40 a week. At university I worked about 12-16 a week.

TheWayoftheLeaf · 24/07/2023 19:16

DP (also 28) works about 55.

Densol57 · 24/07/2023 19:17

Both my boys work full time and both do a little overtime to afford nice things

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 24/07/2023 19:18

I worked probably 50-60 hours plus in my 20s, and played equally hard and travelled loads, own house at 25 and now at 52 I am reaping the rewards of working hard when I had the energy by doing less hours in a stress free job.

AnyFucker · 24/07/2023 19:19

24 yo- full time

28yo ( with baby) - 4 days

MrsMitford3 · 24/07/2023 19:21

Older DC-aged 25 and 27 work full time-one in tv advertising and one in cyber security.

Youngest is doing a Masters degree and nannying part time to pay bills-which she loves.

Threeboysadogandacat · 24/07/2023 19:31

Ds1 (27) full time shift work
Ds2 (25) full time 9-5.30
Ds3 (17) 15 hours + school + voluntary work (he gets bored of he stands still)

I worked 2 jobs in my 20’s to save a deposit for a house. I was like ds3. I’m worn out now!

mummydoris2006 · 24/07/2023 19:35

40+, she's an apprentice agricultural engineer studying to be a master technician so this time of year during harvest it can be silly hours keeping all the combine harvesters going

mummydoris2006 · 24/07/2023 19:37

Sorry just re-read your opening post @thelionkim that said DC in their 20's so my answer is no use as my DD has just turned 17 last month.

WimbledonPimms · 24/07/2023 19:38

Mines 23 he works around 15 hours self employed. He could work more but he earns enough and doesn't currently want to.

DelphiniumBlue · 24/07/2023 19:38

The two who are working do about 40 hours, both wfh. The other is a student and isn’t currently working.

2chocolateoranges · 24/07/2023 19:39

Ds is contracted for 35 hrs a week - full time job after leaving uni.
dd is still at uni, she works approx 10-15hrs a week during term time and anything up to 39 hrs during holidays..

Ohmylovejune · 24/07/2023 19:39

Both work full time. One doesn't take breaks so it's FT+

My DD says she is the only full timer at work and at least one of them is younger than she is. There is a full time role for her she just likes having longer weekends. She lives with her parents so maybe she help them out, who knows.

caringcarer · 24/07/2023 19:39

40 hours at his full time job but he sometimes goes and helps his Dad out at weekends too.

VeterinaryCareAssistant · 24/07/2023 19:40

bakebeans · 24/07/2023 18:58

You would be amazed. My daughter has a university degree. Has applied for thousands of jobs in her field (many applicants but not many jobs in the field). Has had a few retail jobs whereby they would only contract her either temporarily or 16 hours.
currently now working 30 hours a week and contemplating doing voluntary work to get into her chosen area

Tell her not to give up. It took me over 7 years to break into my sector. Just keep persevering.

WeightoftheWorld · 24/07/2023 19:40

I am in my twenties and work 23 hours a week as standard but I often work a couple of extra hours in the evenings each week too and sometimes more. This week I will be working about 29 hours I think.

I do have two small children though. I worked 37.5 hours before I had my first child.

DH also in his twenties works 30 hours a week. Although does a couple of hours evening work on top most weeks too, but this isn't paid.

foresty · 24/07/2023 19:40

Early 20s and I work full time (37 hours).

Bowlplatesoupandroll · 24/07/2023 19:41

30 hours on NHS placement, 7.5 hours uni plus adhoc agency shifts. So more than full time (also does his self directed uni work).

mumofteenss · 24/07/2023 19:43

just turned 20, does 12 hour shifts on a 4 on 4 off rota.

orangeleavesinautumn · 24/07/2023 19:44

about 40, that's normal, isn't it?

WhatWouldHopperDo · 24/07/2023 19:45

25 year old works 38 hours over 4 days
