I'm an nhs patient and pay for my treatments. I booked and paid for a treatment in June, first appointment was this week. It was an extra clean and air flow. I got home after the treatment and the receptionist rang me to say from booking and paying for my treatment it had increased by 10% and I owe them money! Anyone else has this!?!

If you have already paid then I would expect them.to honour the price - my dentist did, just let me know that next appointment would be more.

Thing is, I rang them the morning of my appointment- they could have told me then. They also could have told me when I checked in at reception for my appointment. Why ring me after I've had the treatment? Not great!

If you had already agreed the price and paid then I would expect them to stick with that. I wouldn't be keen to pay more and would argue that with them.

They should at least have notified you before your appointment and given you the chance to question it.

Is it is an open course of treatment it will be at the earlier price. Depending on band will be £23.80/£65.20/£282. If it is a new course it will have to go on the new charges £25.80/£70.70/£306.50. If it is follow on treatment it shouldn't have changed price. Are you seeing the same dentist?

Ask them to send a letter or email you, and if they do, raise a complaint. You paid up front and its supposed to cover the treatment.

Thanks, good idea. I'll email for an invoice.

I pay for my treatment in advance because it's cheaper. If they phoned me up later to ask for more, I'd tell them I'd already paid.
