"Summer" alternatives to barbecue

I have around 12 people over at various times of the afternoon / eve (depending on kids etc) this weekend.

The plan was to do quite a laid back barbecue but the weather looks to be another wash out.

I don't love the idea of sitting slightly miserably eating barbecued sausages and burgers indoors.

If it was winter I'd do a big vat of chilli or similar but this feels too wintery.

I'd still like to serve hot food not just MN 'picky bits'.

Any ideas about a summery alternative to barbecue which easily serves quite a few people? Don't mind doing something seperate for kids.

A MN 'Massive salad' goes without saying but what about quiche, new potatoes, marinated chicken breast chunks, crusty bread, cheese & bacon skins, that sort of thing?

Greek feast? Lamb koftas and falafel with couscous, flatbread, tzatziki, salad etc.

You can still go with chilli but serve with buffet of baked potatoes, rice, salad, coleslaw, potato salad, tortilla chips, crudités, dips etc

go with US style Super Bowl snacks, loads of good ideas here from chicken/cauliflower wings, jalapeño poppers, chees garlic bites, guacamole, loaded nachos, etc etc
