What's that smell?!

You know that bin smell you get, that staleness that can overcome a home that's not properly cleaned or just left to fester a tad too long? Many homes with animals in have it to an extent.

That smell has just appeared in my home and been there for the past few days.

I can't find anything! I've taken the bins out and cleaned out the bin and bleached and cleaned but it's still there.

Suggestions?

A piece of old fruit or an old potato that rolled out of sight somewhere? Those both make quite a smell.

Hoover sometimes smells funky then every time you use the smell disperses round the house. Wash filters see if it helps.

Not if you rinse and dry them properly.. but so few people do.

Lightbulbs that are too strong for the shade etc can give off an unpleasant fishy odour.

We had this a couple of years ago, it came and went, we called it the death smell - turned out to be a huge gas leak! Didn't smell like gas at all!

Always found that such a hassle and the alternative is unsanitary so I've been using those pad ones for years and love those, the spray ones :)

Look for an rogue potato at the back of a cupboard, I had this and every time I opened the cupboard tiny flies appeared, emptied the cupboard and at the back 2 well rotten potatoes and a whole new eco system, GAGSVILLE 🤢

Dishwasher. Clear out the filter and the gungy bits, maybe the pipe that drains the water?

My sunflowers started smelling AWFUL before they showed visible signs of going over. Do you have any flowers in vases??

Why disgusting, just wash them.

Maybe it's just time to embrace a funky smelling house.

Because it doesn't seem possible to get them properly clean without putting the head through the washing machine - can you do this now?
The fibre mop just seems to be more efficient, I pour boiling water and cleaning solution onto the floor and then wash the head after use.
