To tell you just how bloody boring today has been

DH away with work
DC doing own thing
Raining
All my friends either busy/out/on hols
My house is already cleaned/tidied/sorted to the hills

I have sat at my breakfast bar all day surfing the net and watching old movies. That's all. No where to go, no one to see. I have never, ever been so bored. EVER. I have now got my works laptop out and am working, to get ahead of the game this week at work as I then off for 3 weeks. I am also going to get a bottle of wine to have while I work.

I have scoffed crap all day and now have terrible IBS

You’re living my dream! I wish I had time to spare

Does anyone else think there's a weird lack of empathy on this thread?

OP: "I've had a shit day and feel sad about it"

Mumsnet:"I wish I'd had your shit day and you really should have enjoyed it"

Why do we need to show empathy for OP? She hasn't had some trauma, she hasn't even had a shit day - she's simply had a day at home where she couldn't find anything to do. She's actually mentioned options she had but for one reason or other couldn't be bothered with. It's ridiculous if an adult cannot spend ONE day on their own at home without turning it into a drama.

not really.

she's literally had one day where she's been kicking her heels and found it a bit boring. that doesn't require a massive outburst of sympathy.

I suppose I'm thinking if it was a friend telling me how she felt, telling her she was just wrong to feel that way would be a bit unkind?

ThunderSocks · 24/07/2023 01:38

Ps Just noticed this is in AIBU! Maybe not the place to expect empathy or a friendly ear...

Yes. Between that and 'oh you're bored? I myself could never be bored, behold my varied and wondrous skills and hobbies' it's an odd thread.

When I’ve been wallowing in an unnecessary self pity party, being given a well aimed kick up the arse has actually been the best thing.

Sometimes enabling people in their ‘gone off track’ thinking is the worst thing you can do to them. As any effective talking therapist should be able to tell you

Beachside82 · 24/07/2023 07:58

Oh come on

mum not getting the violins out for a
healthy woman
with two healthy children
married to a man that she doesn’t seem unhappy with
gainfully employed

and a bit bored on a rainy Sunday!

Beachside82 · 24/07/2023 07:58

I’m not getting the violins out I meant to say

TeriblePerson · 24/07/2023 08:08

Many on this thread seem surprised that other people's brains and lives differ to their own.

OP said "I feel like crying" and people are saying "you are so lucky".

OP isn't the only one who needs to work on herself...

Maybe you have minimalised your house too much and should actually have something you can do in it. Apart from the gym and removing anything in your house do you not have any hobbies?

Ha, I was thinking the same thing!

It's all very well being minimalistic but you seem to removed any kind of option for a rainy day activity without going out and spending money.
