Need help with housing after breakup

My 6-year relationship recently ended. Both of us agree it's over, no animosity, just sadness. But this is made worse by the fact we both need to move out of our flat in 2 months because the landlord is selling up.

There's no way I can afford to rent my own place anywhere in, or around the city. My only option is a houseshare which is still expensive now, and such a kick in the teeth. I'm 36, introverted/quiet, and have a bowel condition (Crohn's) and dreading having to share a bathroom with strangers when I have flare ups. En suite rooms in flatshares cost a fortune. Thinking I might have to quit my job and move away from all my friends and family to afford my own place. But then rents further away aren't much cheaper to be honest. What do I do?!

This sucks. Mainly just looking for some words of encouragement and support I think.

If you were to rent a room in a shared 3 storey, you will find some floors have their own bathroom at no additional cost. Also most occupants of shared houses keep themselves to themselves so do not worry about your introversion. Once the stress and panic subsides you will be okay

Yeah it’s really tough now.

A couple of options for you would be to get on the council housing list (depending on where you live) and to look for a place as a lodger rather than a house share.

Also, you could ask around to see if any friends or family members would let you rent a room?

It must be horrible to be in this situation in your mid thirties. Do you ahve any savings, would shared ownership be an option ? have you done any calculations to see if you would qualify for any Universal credit help towards rent ?

Crohns is a disability!! Her on the social housing list ASAP !!
