Made a post yesterday as I felt rough as hell and had white spots all over the back of my throat. Woken up this morning and don't have the fever anymore but my throat feels so swollen/weird that I can't talk properly and still struggling to swallow even fluids. Spoken to 111 and they said to go to a pharmacy and get some throat spray but I've never had this issue before of it being so swollen I can't talk, do I need to see someone or am I just being dramatic?

Just another update, I was fitted with a cannula within half an hour of arriving, started on the antibiotics, fluid and morphine. Iv been moved out of a&E and in to a little side room with lots of those reclinable chairs. Getting lots of tuts and eye rolls at how quickly I got seen from others in here but I honestly can't fault any of the staff for how helpful and efficient they've been!

So glad you’ve been seen and treatment started, was obviously the right thing to do rather than waiting for 111 to call back.

Ignore the tuts - they have no idea why you’re there and, if their need was as urgent as yours obviously is, they would have been seen already!!

Fab....I was wondering about you all day!

holymolysinuses · 22/07/2023 17:28

@Clarachuff @LovedFedAndNoonesDead thanks both. I've been sent home now with oral antibiotics, anti sickness and pain relief. Got to take 12 tablets a day for the next 10 days. I'll be rattling! But the dr said I should start to feel better within 24 to 48 hours of starting them

Quinsey is horrible, hope you feel better soon

Madamecastafiore · 22/07/2023 17:36

Get some hydrogen peroxide from chemist and gargle every hour, it'll oxidise the bacteria (tastes like licking a mangy foxes arse when it does as it fizzes) but you'll be right as rain in a few days.

holymolysinuses · 22/07/2023 17:37

@Madamecastafiore haha love the description! I'll give that a try thank you

If you are struggling to swallow, take soluble cocodamol and I used to find milkshake (the supermarket stuff in milk cartons) was easier as it coated my throat. That was when I couldn't swallow my own saliva.
I feel for you and hope you get better soon. I had it several times a year for nine years plus a few episodes of Quincy and they pulled my tonsils out. Best medical thing that's ever been done to me!

So glad you got seen. Hope you start to feel better soon

How are you today @holymolysinuses ?

holymolysinuses · 23/07/2023 07:48

@Tilllly I've just started another thread actually, back in hospital as I've had a severe reaction to the antibiotics
