To not help the delivery driver this morning when he asked me.........

If I would help him lift a pallet with four tyres and a set of alloys off the back of his lorry?

I'm 9 months pregnant by the way.

He seemed to genuinly think I'd be able to help. I'm not precious about lifting things during pregnancy but could tell he thought I was being difficult.

YANBU, What an idiot for asking you. Shouldn't they travel in pairs if they have to deliver heavy goods.

Babies I also thought that they were supposed to work in pairs if they've got heavy loads.

i was asked once whilst i 8 weeks preg 9after recurring mcs)
i refused and he made me call his boss on his mobile and explain that i wouldn't help!!!

YANBU. He was a plank.
Funny story though. When I was 9 months pregnant with DD2 (and v v v hot and grumpy) We sold our old sofa to a guy my DH works with. He came to pick it up in his van when DH had gone out. It was a two man lift so I insisted on helping him . He was adamant I wasn't to help in my condition. I think I virtually growled at him "I am fed up with my condition. I am overdue in my condition. If helping you with this gets this Bl*y baby out. I'll pay you for the sofa" In fairness he took 90% of the weight I was really only balance, steering and a bit of manouvering help. Has dd2 2 days later!!! Hoorah!

I must admit chris i did briefly think "well it'd be less uncomfortable than a sweep" - although today is not a convenient day to go into labour, should have asked him to come back tomoorow

Actually this week is a pain in the butt in general- over the next 7 days am trying to avoid a leap year baby, MIL's birthday and FIL's birthday and their sodding anniversary.

Well actually as long as I don't go into labout before about 8pm tonight and the little blighter comes before midnight on thursday then that's dandy

Why he couldn't have come at the weekend I don't know - grrr

DH's car broke down a few days before i gave birth - all the oil ran out and i parked it in a petrol station. Recovery guy said he'd be there between 7 and 9 the next day, so i sat in the car from about 6.45. at about 10.30 i think he turned up and reversed his van near to my car.
he said "will it turn on? can you drive it up to the back of my van? Saves our backs, pushing it"

Years ago we some prat delivering stuff from Travis Perkins. I was also heavily pregnant at the time. Was the middle of the weekday, looking about for DH or someone else to help him. "How am I supposed to deliver these goods? What about MY BACK?" Whinge whinge, moan moan.

Okay - why was it you signed up for the job of delivery man, remind me, and why was it we paid extra to have you show up at our house with this horrendous 'TUDE?

Just unbelievable, the self pity.

Um, can heavy lifting cause a miscarriage?

Genuinely askign as I had 2 after movign house and some fair old lifting. i didn't think it might have been my fault.I was 5-12 weeks pg.

dividedself-you definitely didn't do anything to cause your mcs. At that stage they are so robust, and I think it would have happened anyway had you been lying down all day. Don't worry!!

When we had new fence panels delivered I was asked to help. Find it a bit off myself.

I once had to point out to a taxi driver that I was pregnant and please could he NOT SMOKE.

Quite apart from the fact that he was smoking in the first place, my pregnancy was not at that point hard for anyone within a mile of me to notice.

And actually yes, thinking about it, the blokes who delivered our sofa were slightly put out that I didn't surge to help them, what with being pregnant that time too and indeed five foot tall and not brilliant at lifting at any time.

I've had this too, I was about 8 months pregnant (& huge) & we were getting a dryer delivered, guy asks me if I can help him up the stairs with it, I just looked down at my bump & said 'you're kidding right'? He grumbled all the way through about how we should've said we lived in a second floor flat blah blah blah

Why don't they get it?

Divided self. 2 girls was right, at that stage they are too well cushioned for us to do anything to. As far as I'm aware the reason pg women aren't supposed to lift stuff is less for the baby and more for the fact that when pg you're ligamants and muscles are stretchier and you're more prone to injury yourself.

Anyone else notice how quiet Connor has gone . . .
