What is this evil illness?

Posting here for traffic. Wed my DS (4.5) woke up with a fever, his whole body was literally radiating heat. Fever remained all day. Very hot also that night, and unsettled. Thurs just stayed on the sofa and ate little bits here and there, temperature still high. Today- woke up absolutely streaming, eyes watering, but cooler to the touch. Hasn’t eaten today. Just very poorly. Lots of sniffing, runny nose. Then tried to give him some purée about half an hr ago and he gagged, then vomited quite a lot, mostly just clear liquid and the bit of purée is mange’s to get down him.

Is this a heavy cold? Or am I looking at flu? Or something else? I’m knackered (& stressed!)

Have you done a covid test ?

EsmeSusanOgg · 21/07/2023 16:34

Have you spoken to your GP?

How high did his temperature get? Has it responded to Calpol?

My son had similar and it turned out to be an inner ear infection. He had no ear pain

topnoddy · 21/07/2023 17:02

Once again why post this on here ?

The NHS exists for a reason , they have phone numbers to call

Bayleaf25 · 21/07/2023 17:05

Covid? All 4 of us have had it again here and I also felt nauseous as well as other flu type symptoms. Kids have bounced back really quickly. Myself and DH have just been dosing ourselves up.

Had your son still got a temperature? Keep going with calpol and phone gp if still worried.

@topnoddy

Please don't discourage people from asking questions on here I'm sure op is intelligent enough to know to ask medics as well but often it really helps to get ideas as someone said.. Ear infection.
I've also asked on here many times about various medical issues for myself or the dc and people have been helpful.... Whilst I'm also seeking professional help which if you kmow is incredibly hard to get these days

DD had this last week and still having the effects. Not Covid but May as well have been. Temp of 40.5 but fluctuating, shivers, bit of a sore throat but not awful. First manifestations were a bit of earache. Then as the temp settled the cough started. Real hacking cough that at one point I wondered if it was whooping cough.

She's 12. Had it now for 13 days and still got the cough. More energy, we went for a nice walk this morning but it really brought out the cough. She insisted on going for a swim this afternoon but only managed half an hour. It takes a long time to recover from!
