To ask about this Ryanair flight

I've booked for my 18 year grandaughter to visit me, from UK to a different country. But because I've done it on my app will it be difficult for her to retrieve the booking at check-in time or would I be able to email the boarding pass. Would that be acceptable? Appreciate anyone who can help. 🙂

@Castlerock44 boarding pass will scan off email or screenshot.

Really? that sounds the easier option.

Do they accept screenshots?

The thing that's scanned is a QR code or a barcode.

You can screenshot it, email it, What'sApp it, whatever... It's just an image. There's nothing clever about it.

This was a few years ago but I remember issues with people emailing Ryanair boarding passes to each other and the code getting scrambled somehow. The boarding passes couldn't be scanned.

Do you have the details you need for accessing the Ryanair app?

A screenshot will be absolutely fine but don’t send it via messenger as it compresses the file. My husband and sons flew home yesterday with Ryanair and I had booked their flights and checked them in on my app. I just screenshotted the boarding passes and sent them on. No issues at all.

ChimneyPot · 21/07/2023 11:09

There are 2 ways of doing it.
Screenshot the boarding pass and send it to her. I have done this frequently with teenagers and friend groups.
or

She can go on the website or app herself, go to manage my booking and input the booking reference and surname. She will then be able to check herself in and get her own boarding pass.

Karatema · 21/07/2023 11:09

As long as the name on the ticket and passport match, it won't be a problem. Whenever my husband has booked for me, I've just presented my passport and they've matched!
However, I've never flown Ryanair.

Did you send them by WhatsApp?

No I sent them in a regular text. My son said that was the best way to avoid compression.

Whenever I've checked in at the airport, I just handed over passport and they use that to print boarding pass - or just email to her.

This is Ryanair so they don't want you to check in at the airport! You'll be charged around £50 to do so.

TenoringBehind · 21/07/2023 11:46

Screen shot is fine.

my teen ds has flown by Ryanair several times on his own doing this

Albarinoqueen · 21/07/2023 11:54

Have just travelled with easyJet and some with screenshot boarding passes were sent back to check in to get printed copy- the easyJet assistant said screenshots don’t always work. It was quiet so the people had time but if long q would be different

The only trouble is if it asks for my email password because I don't have it. To retrieve my booking she'd need my email, then password. 😳 I just want to make sure theres no confusion at airport for her.

Can't you reset your password? There should be a forgot password option somewhere that will email you with a link to create a new one.

It's crazy, I can't reset it. Every time I think I've done it it says sorry there's not enough information to proceed, even though I've done everything right. 🤔 I think I'm going to do the screenshot and hope it'll be ok.

I hope your granddaughter enjoys her visit to you. Hope one of the suggestions works.

Thank you, yes I feel a lot more reassured now. I think I'll just send her the screen shot. Maybe she could print it out for extra validation.
