So sorry, I don’t think this is the correct place to put this but I wasn’t sure where else to post, does anyone know what the pill is attached? I can’t find it online anywhere, I’ve tried the pill identifier websites but it doesn’t seem to exist? I’m really worried as I found it in my teenage daughters bedroom and they were hid away. She’s been acting up lately so super concerned. Does anyone know? She isn’t home right now.

They weren’t in a packet. They were just there, a few of them. Also a few where she had halved them…

I would take it to your local pharmacy and ask the pharmacist for advice. They should be able to recognise it.

That's very scary for you. I hope it's nothing too bad.

Antoninus · 19/07/2023 13:54

Ritalin pills

OhComeOnFFS · 19/07/2023 14:00

She wouldn't be cutting a contraceptive pill in half, though.

She wouldn't be cutting a contraceptive pill in half, though.

She shouldn't but people don't necessarily follow the dosage rules. Maybe she thinks by halving the dose she reduces the risk of side effects - things don't have to be true for people to hear them and think they are true.

Antoninus · 19/07/2023 14:05

How big is it op ? Contraceptive pills are small

EerieSilence · 19/07/2023 14:06

It's a contraceptive. Please have a chat with her about the proper prevention of STDI (halving a pill will decrease the functionality, it prevents pregnancy but not the STDI).

Hufflepods · 19/07/2023 14:07

Let's be real, you don't have contraceptive pills out of a packet, nor would you half it.
It's obviously some sort of recreational drug.
OP you aren't going to know without speaking to her.

Was there something in particular that made you search her room in the first place?

goingslightlyinsane · 19/07/2023 14:12

Hi OP, I'm pretty sure it isn't a contraceptive.
Hopefully a qualified pharmacist will come on here and correct me.

The shape of the A like branding is making me a little suspicious.

I have done a Google search on the image and nothing is matching.

I would ask her as soon as she comes home, if it seems like she's fobbing you off I would take it to a pharmacy.

How old is she?

You might if it wasn't your prescription, friends sharing meds so only taking half to make the tablets they have last longer etc. because someone's Mum has let them start taking it etc. etc.

Not saying I agree or disagree either way, but just to say there might be a reason that it is a contraceptive pill out of its packet.

goingslightlyinsane · 19/07/2023 14:15

Also- your picture makes it look textured, is that because you have zoomed in- is it bobbly/bumpy and not smooth like a typical paracetamol say?
If it is textured then it will most definitely be recreational.

PinkFootstool · 19/07/2023 14:19

Are there any other markings? On the other side of the pills? Do they look well made or cheaply pressed and powdery?

PinkFootstool · 19/07/2023 14:20

Flatlined · 19/07/2023 14:17

A8 appears on a list of ecstasy pills here https://erowid.org/chemicals/mdma/mdma_images_gallery1.shtml

They do, but that's a 20yr old report of that pill design. Ecstasy tablets tend to come and go in fashions with designs and a snapping point isn't in the usual style.

Twelveisthebestnumber · 19/07/2023 14:20

Pretty certain it isn't a contraceptive. It's far more hassle to remove them from the blister pack let alone halve them. Normally the imprint code allows you to identify them but this doesn't seem to be the case with this tablet. The 8 and the bisected tablet also suggests it is a dose of 8 something (?mg) that can easily be halved to 4. Good luck.

ManateeFair · 19/07/2023 14:22

Your best bet would be to take it to a pharmacy. Unless it's totally identical to any picture you find on the internet, you can't be sure that's what it is. There's more than one pill that will have and A and an 8 on them. People showing you pictures of pills they've found on the internet that look kind-of-a-bit-similar-but-not-quite-the-same isn't going to help you.

VioletCharlotte · 19/07/2023 14:28

Could it be this?

what is this tablet???
threetangerine · 19/07/2023 14:29

Ritalin. Treats ADHD most commonly but people use it for dopamine, it's a stimulant

I mean many things are technically possible. It could have blew in her window and landed in a drawer without the DD knowing anything about it!

But the most obvious answer is usually the answer, and that is that it is a recreational pill.

She shouldn't but people don't necessarily follow the dosage rules. Maybe she thinks by halving the dose she reduces the risk of side effects - things don't have to be true for people to hear them and think they are true.

But why would the pill be designed to be halved if your not meant to (like with a contraceptive pill).

It is clearly a tablet that has been designed to be half dosed if need be - that’s the purpose of the big groove across the diameter.

neverbeenskiing · 19/07/2023 14:31

OP, there are many types of meds that have similar markings so you're not going to be able to identify it from a Google search. I work with teenagers and based on the many similar pills that I have seen I would say this is most likely street drugs, as in a 'fake' product rather than a prescription pill that has been sold on. Whether its an upper or a downer I couldn't say, but the best way to find out is probably by talking to your daughter.

PixieLaLa · 19/07/2023 14:54

Yeah that’s not a contraceptive pill, they don’t design them to be halved like that.
