Adults that don’t have basic knowledge?

I understand we never stop learning, we all find out something new everyday. And before anyone points out learning disabilities, my daughter has learning disabilities so I’m not including those people in this of course!

However there are some things people should know like what butter is made of, or how to put oil in your car.
My in laws are useless, I have no idea how they finished school, got married had children and bought a house.
For example each year my FIl car breaks down he flaps his arms wondering what on earth is wrong with his car and usually he let it run dry of oil or coolant. The other day my MIL rang my DH in tears because even though they’re a year off retirement they still owe over £150k on the mortgage and she doesn’t know what to do, when asked specific details about their mortgage they have no idea what rates or term length or anything.

Aibu to be frustrated with adults like this? I mean they had 60+ years to pick up this information along the way. Some things they don’t know I learnt in school age 5.

This seems to be specific annoyance about your in laws, no? They do seem irritatingly stupid I agree.

I absolutely agree. Some people just seem to lack absolutely basic life skills. Its not just young people but many middle aged/older people too.

Did they have an interest only mortgage? They would've been very common at that time.

And yet somehow they managed to raise a son you liked enough to marry.

This is a mean-spirited post.

Noo I love my in laws to death. They’re just a bit clueless sometimes.
